Actiionz
There was alot of spectulation on how to boost the Immortal Achievement, which is to obtain 99 or more lives. Well, I have the solution. You can play through any of the Special Stages. Which will net you a guarenteed 3 lives per run if you complete the level, or you can try my other method. My method is to play on Casino Zone: Act 2. You can access this level, once you complete Splash hill zone. When your playing through the level, you will notice playing cards sitting idle. When you run through them, the cards will spin showing an icon of either Sonic, Eggman, or a ring. If you manage to run through at least three of the same icon you will get a reward. Card Breakdown 3 Sonic Cards - Gives you 1 live 5 Ring Cards - Gives you 50 coins Eggman Cards - Gives you nothing There are tons of cards to run through. Im guessing over 100. Ways to obtain a life Collect 100 rings Collect 3 sonic cards Find an item box containing an extra life. Boosting Method What you should do is start the level and just run through and collect as many cards as quick as possible. You only have a couple of seconds to collect 3 or more cards of the same item or it will dissapear. I wouldn't recommend playing through the whole level. Just play about 2 and a half minutes of the level and then click restart level. Your lives will be saved from the previous run, so don't worry about that. If you think you are about to die, then quickly pause the game and click restart. It may just help you reach 99 live a bit sooner. You also don't lose any lives when you restart a level, unlike previous sonic games. I have only played the Casino level for only 30 minutes, and I have managed to have over 75 lives. So that is an estimate of about 2.5 lives per minute. Each run through would normally net me 3 lives from collecting coins, 3 lives from collecting sonic cards, and 1 life from an Item box. The itembox is located near the middle of the level. The cards very, so sometimes you will get lucky, and other times you won't. In conclusion, obtaining 99 lives is very easy and I hope this helps people get their achievement. Edited October 18, 2010 by Actiionz

UltimateAuron32
its a nice method, was tempted to stock up for the final boss, but figured i probably fought it in the past like most bosses and i was right, though this version is a little tougher, i'm saying nothing more than that though. TakahashiDemon
Just another thing to add, you can quit out of the stage (return to stage select on pause menu) and still keep your extra lives if you had trouble with the card jump bit at the end. KennyWolf
Or you could just keep playing through the game over and over again! xD

I was actually doing it that way, but it takes a bit longer since it has to save and return to the stage select menu. So I would just pause, and click restart when ever I would fall to my death during the big card jump. It doesn't save your game though, but you keep all the lives you earned from the last run. mummy68
When you try the cheevo for all the rings in the special stage you will earn 2 or 3 live by trying
Achelous
When you try the cheevo for all the rings in the special stage you will earn 2 or 3 live by trying True! I think special stage 1 will be quicker than the casino method. If you complete the level you get 3 lifes (1 for the rings you collect, 1 for clearing the level as the chaos emerald is now a life-powerup, and 1 for the 10000+ points you will have in the end). Just make sure you collect around 100 rings, clear the level and you get 3 lifes in about one minute. So first go for the ring collector achievement, before wasting you time boosting for the 99 lifes.
