8 Survivors/Come on follow me Guide

Fantastic guide,it worked great,also i like to add that my first attempt,welcome to the family never came up,so i reloaded my save at the safe house to try again,on my second run the every mans garbage scoop appeared as soon as i left the safehouse,on my first run this scoop never appeared,so as i was heading for the lost scoop i completed every mans garbage,i rescued the two people outside when back inside,rescued the old lady,then went to save lenny as soon as i went into the slot ranch casino,welcome to the family popped up,so i think as long as you get the every mans garbage scoop and finish it,welcome to the family will appear.

EDIT: I just retried, took an even easier route than the OP did, this way is glitch proof (eg. you do not need to worry about the Welcome to the Family not popping up).

1. Get Denyce - DO NOT save her yet.
2. Kill Ted and Snowflake, Denyce should be able to take it, heal her afterwards if needed.
3. Get Lenny.
4. Go to Safe house, making sure NONE of the survivors have the door icon over their heads when you enter, also make sure its 7am, or near 7am, you dont want to be going in too soon and them dying because you left them out too long, give Katey her zombrex.
5. Get the couple that are in the mall when you exit, one is straight in front of you, when other is in shop to your right.
6. Message "Lost" will pop up, go get Chad and his girl, talk to Chad first as the girl won't follow you until she sees him.
7. Message "Shortsighted" should pop up now, go get the old lady, carry her.
8. Now do the story cases 1-2 (once you talk to Rebecca in this one, the achievement will pop), then case 1-3, then case 1-4 as that lands you back to the safe house where you should be headed for the survivor PP points.

Well I tried this achievement the way the person who posted recommended but it did not work. I have confirmed, after several tries, that you will not get any missions if it means that more than 8 people will be available at once. So if you have 6 people it will not bring up the welcome to the family mission because counting the story line mission with rebecca that would put you over 8. The best way to do this achievement is to save Denyce at the beginning along with snowflake, but only return snowflake to the safe house. upon leaving the safe house pick denyce back up and also grab Lashawndra and Gordan. This gives you 3. Then leave and head towards the silver strip and walk towards the arena. Here you will pick up chad and dorris. that puts you at 5. by now the mission where you get esther will be available. go ahead and go pick her up and that puts you at 6. Now head for the Yukitan Casino and pick up Lenny. thats now 7 survivors in your group. From here just head towards the Hotel to do the mission and as soon as you speak with Rebecca you will get the achievement. She counts as a survivor. This is confirmed now and is by far the quickest and easiest way to get this achievement. One tip I would suggest is to take the shot gun away from chad. this dude is reckless and will cap anyone in the way of his shooting. i hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Got this achievement today. Followed the OPs directions and it didn't work. Tried a few times and finally got it by doing everything in OP up till Step 4. Went with the Lost scoop and then waited until 11AM hit before getting the old lady (once 11 AM hit, Welcome to the Family scoop showed up). Then made my way to Yucatan Casio to pick up Lenny and then finally Kenneth and Jack. After both followed, achievement popped up.

I believe Welcome to the family does not show up because of the you can't have more than 8 survivors with you like a few on here have mentioned (that is if you have Lawshandra + Gordan, Doris + Chad, Esther, Lenny before 11AM).

At the beginning it is very random after you get Lashawndra, gordon, Lenny, Esther, Chad, Doris, The drunk chick. They always appeared in that order and I got no notice for anybody else, and the pawn shops never opened. I had to find the guy on the strip, and he only appeared right before I failed Case 2-2. His mission never showed up. After I talked to him I got the call to pick up the guy who needed zombrex. As soon as i picked him up the achievement popped. But I did notice that on day 3 the game had the mermaid, the comedy club, Bibi, and the guy that talks alot in the palisades mall, missions available at once.

So if I didn't get before I could have got it then. I also picked up jasper and the poker crew, for a total of 12 survivors following me at once. It may have been a glitch but that is what happened in my game.

I tried the first method but it doesn´t worked. After the fifth survivor i dont get any calls. I made everything like in the guide. So i tried to bring these survivors in the savehouse and see whats happen. So after they are safe the calls started again. I killed the fat psycho with the tiger but i dont get the call for Lenny. And i wasn´t in the casino.

Now i have 6 people again and again ... no calls for survivors anymore. My sixth person was the women in the toilett with the psycho. I am now at case 2-2 and even dont get the call for the pawn shop.

What is my mistake?

I think the only hard thing about this achievement is the fact you need to get 8 survivors. Me and my friend did this and we had 7 survivors for the longest time.... never got a call for the eighth.

I tried it OP's way, and Rebecca DID NOT count as a survivor for me. I had Lashawndra, Gordon, Ester, Chad, Doris, and Lenny, and put Ester away and ended up getting Lush-ious Lady to show. I grabbed her and went ahead and met Rebecca. Achievement did not pop... Not pleased with this.

I also didn't get the info for the pawn shops because I skipped the talk with the cop in the safe room, I was in a hurry to get this done, was probably my downfall.

I tried to do it with Bibi and her 3, the mermaid, Andy the emo, and waited for the call for two's company, but that never happened. The only thing I had hanging was Ante Up. I'm thinking that screwed me there. Only thing that came up then was the 2 magicians, so I turned in the 6 I had... NOW two's company shows up.

Only hope for this playthrough is to get Family Feud, Two's Company, and the Tape it or Die crew. Ante up is still hanging, and I really really don't want to or need to do that one, I didn't save fat boy with the helmet (Welcome to the family... never showed) so I have no reason. So I'm hoping that the Tape it or Die crew shows up, they are the SOLE reason I'm still doing this playthrough I am on. If I don't get the call, I'll just have to grit my teeth, take the 4 back, and get the call then. I can't miss the last 2 combo cards, I'm so close.

Then, it's on to more mundane tasks. Joy.

There is no call for Lenny. You just have to go to the office and talk to him.

Let me just check the math on this one...
Lashawndra and Gordon = 2
Chad and Doris = 2
Lenny = 1
...add those together and you have 5 survivors.

Ester = 1, but then you "put her away" which I would assume means you dropped her off at the safe house, so you are still at 5.

Kristin (Luscious Lady) = 1 + the 5 above = 6 survivors in tow when you went to meet Rebecca.

Adding Rebecca would only make 7 total, not 8.

I only bring this up because Rebecca DEFINITELY counts. My achievement popped as soon as she started running to take me to the Arena Security Room. Both me and my coop partner got it this way (see my posting about this above in this thread... very bottom of page 2). She DEFINITELY counts.

EDIT: Did it again last night with another person and this was the first time we started playing together... Rebecca definitely counts for the "Escort 8 Survivors" (but she does NOT count as a survivor for the "save 50 or 10 survivors" achievements).

I followed the original guide by retroboy multiple times and never got "welcome to the family" to start.

BUT after trial and error i found out why they were not spawning.

you have to actually do "one mans trash". for some reason i guess that looter counts as a survivor and will not spawn an 8th one until he is delt with.

I also just so happen to "give" snowflake the tiger to the daughter by examining it in the safe room in that same attempt. but i doubt that matters but it doesn't hurt since you get pp for it and it's not like it's out of your way.

Just did it the op's way, except like everyone else I didnt get welcome to the family to pop, since case 1-3 counts as a survivor (Rebecca). So I killed Esther, which immediately gave me the call for welcome to the family. I took my 5 survivors, collected Jack and Kenneth, met Rebecca and talked to her and got the cheeve as others have said.

If you are not getting any calls when you are going for this achievement, just kill one of your followers to free up a survivor spawn slot (provided you dont care if you lose one).

I second this. I couldn't ever seem to get any more calls after picking up my 7th survivor, and this was why. As soon as I went and talked to him and the pawnshop opened, the next call with an 8th survivor came in.
