"King of Fighters" achievement question...

Do knockouts only count when you complete a match without losing a round in arcade? (I'm NOT talking about character specific achievements.) I ask because I have a chart but say I lose a round and my second character gets the knockout. Does that knockout count for the second character? thanks

If I quit out of arcade mode do the KOs i got count, or do I need to finish the arcade time trial for them to count?
