Assault trooper achievement

i did what the guide said but no achievement. Also there is no mp44 in this game. its called mp40.

there is a list of weapons you can use that count as Assault Rifles:

U.S.: M1918A2 BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle)
British: Bren LMG
German: Maschinenpistole 44 (MP44), Fallschirmjägergewehr 42 (FG42)

also, note from the guide: "Some have been saying that you cannot use grenades or melee attacks if you want to get this one."

The only grenades you can use are ones that you "return", and by Melee attacks, the achievement means the ones that happen and you have to do the button sequences, you can't just run up on someone and melee them, only the automated ones..I have yet to get this achievement, but that is how it has to be done...thats how i had to do the one for the rifles only...

Hmmm.... i got this achievement and i DID use grenades and melee attacks. If it worked for me, it will probably work for you.

I went through a few levels using the weapons listed on the list and I didn't get the achievement either. I'd assume it's cause I melee attacked, but the above poster says he did too and still got the achievement. Odd!

ok, to setle thios mp44 thing, in the game, its known as the STG44, not MP44, its based on different variatins from game to game, in some, it WILL be MP44, in some, itll be STG44. So if someone say MP44, they mean STG44. hope this helps some people out

thankyou for clearing that up. it seems like nobody knows that for some reason, except in my copy it IS the MP44, not the STG44

Most germans carry MP-40's. That might be the reason. I rarely see Germans with MP-44's.

The easiest level to obtain this achievement is mission 2; the one where you start with a BAR. Use that until you get about 1/4 of the way through and switch your rifle for the Gerry FG42. Both of these are assault rifles. After that, just finish the level and voila: achievement unlocked.

Make sure you don't use the Scoped FG-42 though. If you do, you don't get the achievement because the scope classifies the gun as a sniper.

That's just retarded that the Scoped FG-42 would qualify as a Sniper. I mean, come on, just because it has a scope it's a sniper!? But to be safe, don't pick it up. Just play the mission on Easy and if you run out of ammo, beat down the enemy.

This is highly suspect information. I can't accurately say this is true or false but I vaguely remember using the scoped FG42 and still got the achievement. Bear in mind though the last time I played CoD3 was 6-7 months ago. But like Darth Odan said, it's pretty retarded if they did do that. I think I'll give the makers the benefit of the doubt and assume they aren't retards

I got this achievement y'day on the 2nd level where you start with the BAR. Just to be safe I didn't pick up the FG42 but I will add that I accidently returned a live grenade without realising. After much swearing I continued to the end and still got the achievement.
