Info Screens

During the loading of the game, you get info screens about certain settings, but before I was done reading them, the screen popped away, because the race was loaded. I recently discovered the remote control of my LCD TV has a "still" button, to capture screens, so I type them info screens on the computer.

 

Perhaps someone has some use for it?

Setting Explanation "Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)"

An Anti-Lock System consists of a rotating sensor attached to each wheel that prevents them from locking up. Increasing the ABS effectivenesswill give the wheels a stronger grip on the road, but will also weaken the car's braking abilities. Lowering it will allow the car to drift better.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "Break Balance"

Allows you to adjust the front and back brake balance by purposely lowering the car's braking capabilities. Changing the front brakes to minus gives you more power to the rear brakes, making them lock up easier. This lends itself well to drifting. Changing the rear brakes to minus decreases their power, and lends itself to oversteering.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "Camber"

Adjusts the angle of the tires when viewing the car from the front. This primarily affects the tires' ability to grip the road while cornering. Tilting the tires to form a "reverse V" shape is called Negative Camber, or Minus Side This increases and stabelizes the car's grip, but setting it too far will reduce the area of the tire in contact with the road and actually decreases the car's grip. It is also known as "Onicam", and some ownders change it for appearances. The opposite angle, is known as Positive Camber.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "Gear Ratio"

Change the gear ratio and adjust the balance between acceleration and top speed for each gear. You can use "Final" to change the balance for all gears, so it's a good idea to start there. Move the adjustment bar to the left for top speed and lower the gear ratio. For acceleration, move the adjustment bar to the right, and raise the gear ratio.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "Initial Torque"

Initial Torque first places weight on the LSD so that the LSD will not suddenly go off at a bad time. Raising Initial Torque suppresses the Differential Gear functions, which makes it easy to gain traction and acceleration. However, it also tends to make it harder to turn. Lowering Initial Torque will make the car suddenly lockup and create a possibly unstable vehicle.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "LSD Ratio"

The LSD Ratio lets you change the effectiviness of the Limited Slip Differential. Strengthening the LSD effects gives you more traction and acceleration, but it also suppresses the Differential Gear functions and makes it easy to understeer. The car may also become harder to control when the LSD is not being used.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "Ride Height"

Adjusting the car's Ride Height in turn lets you adjust the ca's center of gravity. Lowering the Ride Height will also lower the center of gravity, giving it increased stability and making it easier to slide around corners. Lowering the front side Ride Height will give the front tires more traction and better turning capabilities. Lowering the rear side Ride Height will give the rear tires more traction and straightaway power.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "Spring Ratio"

Adjusts the hardness of the suspension's springs.Hardening them will prevent the springs from bouncing and help stabilize the car. Softening them will allow the car to roll (tilt to the side) and increase grip power, at the expense of stability. When driving on paved roads, many people like to set the SR to hard for the increased stability. The best option appears to be to set the suspension and damper first, then adjust the stabilizers for the final touch.

 

 

Setting Explanation "Stabilizer"

The stabilizer is a bar-like object that connects the left and right suspension, with the same characteristics as the springs and damper. Due it's directly connecting the left and right, it affects the car's roll (how much it tilts to the side) and works the hardest during cornering. Hardening it will help to stabilize the car, and softening it will increase the grip. Generally, it would seem best to adjust the stabilizer several points softer than the suspension and damper.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "Toe"

Adjusts the angle of the tires when viewing the car from above. This primarily affects the car's stability. Changing the angle to the inside is called Toe In, and the outside angle is called Toe Out. Generally, Toe In will help to stabilize the car when moving inside, as well as when moving directly forward. Toe Out will do the opposite, making the car unstable and raising the possibility of spinning out. When applying Negative Camber to your tires, use the Toe Out setting to balance the Camber Thrust.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "Torque Balance"

Changes the torque distribution on 4WD cars and adjusts their handling. Giving more torque to the front will give the car straightaway stability like that of an FF, and is well suited to understeering. Giving more torque to the rear lets the car spin like an FR, and is good for oversteering. This setting is only available to 4WD vehicles.

 

 

 

Setting Explanation "Wing Angle"

Adjusts the angle of the rear wing, which in turn lets you adjust the down force. Raising the angle will increase the down force, pressing the car to the ground and stabilizing it. Lowering the angle will decrease the down force and raise the maximum speed.
