Gamepad support for PC?

I've plugged in my 360 controller, but it only lets me use it in the menus. I read somehwere that the PC version is messed up when it comes to gamepads. Anyone know how to get the 360 one working?

I use a gamepad when I play DiRT 2 on PC and it works fine. I suspect you'll find if you go into the controller options screen (Outside > Options) and choose to load the preset for a pad, your problems will be solved.

i had the same problem when i formated my pc and backed up the save. for some reason it reset my control layout even though i backed up the save. just go to the controller options and set it to the 360 controller.

I had no problems at all. It automatically switched to the gamepad (even when turning it on in-game), and the layout was exactly the same as in the console version. Beat the whole game on both platforms.
