One note for Gunless Wonder is that the flare gun (despite the fact that it doesn't actually fire bullets) seems to prevent getting this achievement.

There exist achievement where you need to go from A to B in 30 minutes. How will pausing, loading last checkpoint and so worth effect on getting this achievement? Last night it took near 1 hour to complete this episode part since I was discovering the world.
:edit: I got it now. It took me near 30 minutes. I started 14:57 and finished at 15:26. I run like an animal, so I guess this isn't the easiest achievement to get. Last edited by Frost FI; 05-23-2010 at 12:05 AM. |

Got the game last Saturday and finished it last night, playing it through slowly on hard. I've been watching and anticipating this game since it was announced at E3 as a PS3 release title, which, of course never happened. I have to say, I am very impressed, and it was well worth the wait.
This was my first play through, and at first I was looking for collectibles, but as I got more and more into the story, I totally forgot about them, so I have hardly any of the collectible achievements. But like I said, first play through, on hard: 570G. I will play it through next on Normal to get the collectibles, then once more on Nightmare to get the Nightmare manuscript. Great game - well worth the price! Last edited by AllFallD0wn; 05-23-2010 at 11:14 AM. Reason: Typo |

I'll play it on Nightmare(=1000g) if the game is not ridiculously hard. I had only little difficulties on Hard, died around 15 times in 6 episodes. We will see.

Same here I played on normal to get the collectibles, but I died a few times, by my own stupidity. Like walking off a cliff, or forgetting that A, and not X is the jump button.

hehe this is by far the greatest game ive played in a while, i just started out on episode six and im saving it for later gotta do something else for a while and collect my though`s (that just shows how awesome this game is)
okay so ive so far collected 465 G on hard on the first run and personally i think ive done great but those pages and coffe thermoses are a pain, ![]() missed a few on episode 2, 3 and 5 i think... well anyways i like the atmosphere in this town, just what i needed haha! EDIT: okay played trough Episode 6, awesome storyline you gotta admit that, now i had 600 G when i finished the game... missed the "Children of elder god" achivement but ill take it on normal when ill collect the rest of the coffey thermoses and manuscipts that i missed on hard. Great game! First playthrough on Hard was not hard except for in a couple main spots, but once you figure out how to do them it's all fairly easy - as far as just getting through the game.
As far as the achievements go they're great in my opinion. I ended up with 670 points after one playthrough, I'm no longer as patient as I used to be in using a guide to find all the collectibles in a game - so I may or may not look for them all, but am I going to replay on Nightmare mode you might ask? HELLZ YEAH!!!!! All-in-All: Great game to play! Immerse yourself in the story and you will not be dissappinted! |

I'm missing just two thermos(98/100) now. I've got all of them from episodes 1, 5 and 6. I've discovered the radio station location, which was the place for one thermos. Is there any other thermos like that one, which is most likely to be missed during first play?
I'm asking this only because I'm missing those two. Thanks for any help! :edit: I watched video guides and got lucky with the remaining two. One was hiding behind the steam engine train, that's a easy miss. So I got it now and just one history collectible remaining. It should be a lot easier. Personally, this game has some of the best achievements I've seen in an Xbox game. Their difficulties and approaches are well-balanced, such as Story, Kill X Enemies with Y, Collectibles, and Gameplay (Survive, Speed, etc). Most games I play tend to focus on one type, so this was a very nice change of pace.

I like this game already . The achievements aren't too easy , or too hard ... I am in the middle of Episode 4 now .

whew just beat it and got gunless wonder and the idyllic town on my first try!
also the game pushed me to 20K hurray! I think I liked the game enough to grind the rest of the achievements, just not right away :/ |

I am currently playing the game on Nightmare to get my Alan, Wake Up achievement, but I ran into a problem. Sarah, the sheriff has gotten herself stuck and I can't get back to her, even if I restart the checkpoint. Now if I exit out of the game and choose to play Ch. 5 on Nightmare, will this screw up my achievement?

I just reached and finish the the helicopter chapter, without dying or reloading the chapter/checkpoint, and the achievementdid - An Idyllic Small Town - did not unlock.
What the hell is this? ![]() Thank you. *p.s. I did not skip any movies.
Heavy Metal10 Survive the bulldozer attack.During episode 3 Alan will have an untimely fight with a dark presence controlled Bulldozer. Now this makes the miscellaneous AND missable achievements category because you can simply run past it, rather than fighting it. Whatever you do, stand up like the man that Alan is and take that beast down. Whether you destroy it with a few flares/flaregun or general hard-assery with the boosted torch is up to you. Just don't opt for the easy way out... his name is Alan for a reason...
That isn't missable at all. Think of it as a boss fight. I figured it out when I pointed my flashlight to those poltergeist things and worked awesomely and that's why I started doing so for the Taken and the boss fights. So have it as a "Story Related"...

Of course it's missable, you're not FORCED to fight it whatsoever. As it says in the guide, you can run straight past it if you so wish.

An Idyllic Small Town - Achievement Problem !
Quote:
If any1 has problems unlocking the achievement for "An Idyllic Small Town" then you can just load and start playing from "The Night It All Began" in 'Episode 4: The Truth' and continue playing without dying/restarting until you successfully defend the helicopter in "Night Life in Bright Falls" in 'Episode 5: The Clicker'. I credit 'derblutenkat' for posting the original tip. Last edited by M i L ii T AN T; 08-20-2010 at 02:35 PM. |
