about the dlc and co-op
if i buy this on my user account will my gf still be able to earn achieves with me like we did with the retail game or would we both have to purchase it to get the achieves?

If you're playing split screen, i think it will be fine, if not then she will have to buy it.

Yeah, if you are using two different tags (yours and you gf's) on split screen, you'll both need to have the DLC to be able to get the achievements. It's like this with every batch of DLC, there are no free rides...unfortunately.

I disagree. I have unlocked achievements on my friends console on his dlc. I didn't own it.

Typically if something is purchased through the marketplace it is tied to the gamertag AND to the xbox it was purchased on. This allows anyone on the console to use the DLC or XBLA game.

I can confirm this as me and my friend, with our seperate accounts, have done borderlands mad moxxi split screen where only i have purchased the expansion but granting us both the achievement

I can also confirm this. DLC achievements are tied to the the GT and the Memory unit it's originally downloaded too. That means you can either have your gamertag or your harddrive. If anyone wants to dispute me i've tried this with 4 accounts on DLC and arcade games.

Well, I guess i learned something new. I always assumed all DLC licenses that go with the product are tied to one GT, thus disabling a co-op experience with another tag. Like I said, never really tried it, but I guess now I know.
