Achievements, GS, Completion...

I know that most everyone on this site is a whore of some sort.

With that being said, what type are you?

Achievement whore. the type of person who will play a game like Kameo once they have every achievement point, just so they can get the extra achievements listed, the guy who has every 0 point achievement

Gamerscore: the kinda of cat that will play a game, any game knowing that no mater what they do there score will increase

or

Completionist: The dude who will not play games like Bejeweled or Final Fantasy 11 because they know they will never have the full 1000.

I'm falling into the completionist category more and more, and I think that sucks. I'm fucking addicted!

im a mix between the first 2. i dont really care if i cant get 1k in a game, just as long as i can get most of it done. and i try to get the 0 pointers, hell most of them are fun i.e blitz's.
but extreme completionists piss me off. who cares if you have 90 somethin % if you wont even play a good challenging game ???

I'd say somewhere between gamerscore and completionist. Started out being the latter and am changing towards the former. (Like I know I'll never complete DDR but I'm still playing it)

I consider myself more of a "completionist" but not to the extreme where I would avoid a game I wanted to play because it has difficult achievements.

i agree this is what i would be. i like playing games all the time, so for enjoyment and some for my gamerscore but i always like to shot for completing things 100%

so say someone had 100,000 gamerscore. and that their percentage of completion was only at 20% or something, would that look funny?

Bit of the mixture of the three. Some games I aim to get 100%, I don't like the fact for example that I gave up on NHL 06 at 750/1000 because the penalty shot infuriated me too much. But then again I didn't perserve because I didn't like the game and I'd much rather spend time on a fun game like Crackdown that I may not get 250 points out of instantly but I'll really enjoy.
But then again i like increasing my gamerscore whenever possible. It still wouldn't stop me playing a game for fun, like Oblivion where I still play even though I can't get any more achievements (Can't afford SI at the moment).

I'm still gradually chipping away at the achievement for Bejewelled 2 for completing 280 levels of endless mode, it might only be 20 points but it'll be a great feeling of satisfaction when I eventually do it (Probably 2010)

im somewhat of all three,

i will play a game i like, beat it, and then try to get every single achievement in that game,

i will rent games like the 2k6 sports games (if i don't have to pay for it),

and if the game doesn't look that interesting in the first place and the achievements are not easy i will avoid it al together

There's only around 180 ish retail games out to date so, I guess it isn't. That's not including Jap and arcade though.

I like going for 1000's. But I know I always get bored on the way there. I'll play a game for about 10 mins when I buy it, and not play on it for 3 weeks. Then start getting afew achievements every once in awhile on it.

I love getting achievements and i want to increase my GS dramatically so a mix between the first two.

On my first account I was a mix of all 3. I played every game released and tried to max them all out, including 0 point achievements.

Got tired of it and got a new tag with a fresh start of 0. Now I mostly fall into the #3 category. I only play games that I feel I will enjoy, but I also try to finish those games as much as I can (I am now at 88.6% completed ).

i would have to say i am #3 all the game i have i try to complete however some games i h8 playing and will never try and get my gamerscore up on them.

I started out as a completionist, but losing all my game saves two months in really took a big chunk out of that. I'm definitely a gamerscore whore, I play any and everything I can get my hands on. But I do that to games I KNOW I will get no points in, like the majority of my Jap titles. I just like the experiment with different stuff and see how much I can complete.

I'm an unashamed Gamerscore Whore

I got into it via www.aceybongos.com as he was running a competition to see who could increase their score by the most points by Jan 1st. I managed a 6000+ increase and won some games, XBLA codes, Joystick Junkies T-shirts and other Xbox stuff, during the period up to Jan 1st I signed up here and lurker about the forums, getting tips and tricks to increase my score

He ran a similar competition which ended on April 1st, and I finished second with another increase of 6000+, the winner had 7400+. I've going to get another prize for finishing Runner Up

However, now that my job has changed and I don't get a lot of time on XBL, I've decided that I want to complete as many XBLA titles as I can (I have 33 of the buggers now I got Luxor 2 earlier) as I have only completed a paltry 2/33 (and those are the easiest to do - see sig)

I'll still be pumping my score up with Retail games, but I've decided after today that I'm going XBLA Cold turkey (at least until SWOS arrives ).

I will give each type of game a fair chance to see if I enjoy it. I tend to rent the games that I know I'll be able to complete quickly and buy the more time consuming ones. If I own a game, I'll always have the option to go back and try to get a little closer to that elusive 100%. I like a good challenge as long as I'm enjoying that particular game. But I wont play a difficult game if I know I'll be miserable the entire time.

I'm a completist. A lot of the games I like are very hard games, and my gamercard has lots of very high scores on hard games [905 on burnout, 720 on marvel]

Meh i try and play games that i know ill enjoy and complete em if i can, only game that i actually made myself play only for achievements was DW5. The game wasnt that bad but after a few hours of hitting 1 button it sucks.

I do tend to avoid games where I will end up w/ a 0 or less than 50 on it, for some reason that really really annoys me when I view my games. Buti have 2 buddies w/ 40k+ and 1 w/ 57k so i usually just ask em a couple questions about a game im thinkin about and see if they give it the thumbs up.

I am I guess very little bit of both. I try and play a game through it's storyline, and earn some achievements along the way. Then if I happen to really like the game, I'll take the time to get more achievements after.

100% Completionist, I have to complete my games. I don't look at the gamerscore I look at the hard achievements. I play the game till I complete it. Look at Hexic and Gears of War. I am now playing PGR3 again because I must have the last achievement!

I like raising my gamerscore, but on games i enjoy i will try and get 1000.

I'm a mix between a score whore and a completionist. I try not to play games that I don't think I can easily get the 100% on, but some games just suck so hard I let them go (PD0/Moto GP 06, for example) so that I can get a new game that will actually raise my score.

Out of 34K score I have 27 (one achievement in Prey from 28) 100% retail games and 8 100% arcade games, about 76% completion rate overall.

I like GS scores I'll play for those mostly. I won't bother getting 0 GS achs, I just don't care. I'd love to get 100% in all games but I won't care much if I don't. I'd play any game even if I expect only 100 GS from it ...

gamerscore is cool and a real motivator for playing a game. This said however I would hate to think of myself buying a game just for gamerscore. I like to get 100% or as close as possible on my games, but I only play games for enjoyment.

I'm all of them, but a completionist at heart! I hate it... I can't stand to look at anything less then a 1000. Take a look 28/30 Retail, almost 29 with Gears, 4/4 Arcade. I have another profile I play games on that I know I can never complete, for example Hexic. If I know a game has a glitched achievement I won't go near the damn thing! Thing is if I never would have found this site I wouldn't have anywhere near the GS I have now.

I try to think i dont play games for points but every time a game goes in my 360 what do ya know im going after points! I would say I'm a mix of 1 and 2.
