Xbox 720 requires internet connection to load games?
Source says all games and apps will be suspended if system goes offline for more than three minutes.

I doubt the next xbox will be like this. Microsoft would lose a lot of customers who don't or can't have a constant internet connection. Along with people who prefer playing offline.

I'd like to think that Microsoft aren't that stupid and this is all likely false information either released by people that have no idea what they are talking about or by the competition.
Fingers crossed.

As Sony hasn't done this, it is very unlikely Microsoft would be so silly. I wouldn't worry about it.

Though I still have to wonder about that rumour about the next gen consoles blocking used games. I just don't see that happening either.

well you guys do know that MS does do this to some extent. With the original console(not slim) you could not change your HDD to another console and still play XBL or even games with DLC if that console was not connected to live.

Heed my words Microsoft, do this shit and a lot of people like myself will think "fuck you" and go to Sony.
If Sony do it as well we'll think "fuck consoles" and invest in a PC. PC games are cheaper due to piracy if you play legit, and choosing not to play legit is as easy as downloading the game for free and buying a cd key for $10. That's any brand new game for $10 versus what people pay for consoles games, online passes, gold subscription and all the other junk you tack on. Make your moves very carefully, the people will vote with their wallets and your redundant employees will be begging outside ATMs for your mistakes. These kinda of initiatives will do the opposite of "pleasing the shareholders" so be smart. |

This is really dumb on Microsoft's part. Has the gaming industry learn nothing from Diablo 3 and Sim City?

You know, I half hope some of this stuff is true so all the doomsayers on this site would just disappear.
How's about waiting for an official announcement before going batshit? Actually wait, if you did that you wouldn't have to go batshit.

Maybe if it's more than a half hour. Or if a game is already started it won't do anything. Most likely, though, it'll be nothing.

At this point I'd settle for a unique complaint. Even after Sony has confirmed you'll be able to play used games it's thrown into question again in this very thread. I mean fuck, if people have the motivation to gossip in these threads they also have the access to educate themselves with the facts as well. Who took down the 'think before you speak' sign over the door of the internet?

I have a source that says the next xbox will be able to play PS4 games.
Yup, it's true because you read it right here on the internet. And since MS hasn't said anything about it, we know it's true. /sarcasm

I'm pretty sure Sony never confirmed anything. It was a very vague answer.

Edit: Deleted the other links, this is where the original interview came from. The only thing that can be confusing is the language barrier, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida says: "So, used games can play on PS4. How is that?" But if you drop the unecessary "So" in the statement, I'm not sure it could be any clearer.

was coming to make a thread, like this, but there is one already made! Ppl are making a big deal about this... which if it is how it sound, i wont be getting a 720 over ps4, but, we have to hear what microsoft has to say...
HERE IS HOW I THINK IT WILL WORK You have a cell-phone, verizon makes you pay $30 a month for internet (unlimited) or $10 for 2 Gigs. You have xbox live, microsoft makes you pay $10 a month for... well, nothing! So, next gen, i'd imagine (if they're going to enforce this), Xbox live MIGHT be coming with an internet connection. I mean, if verizon and every other phone company can do this, im sure microsoft has the technology to do this also (especially since the microsoft phone has built in wifi/internet from verizon). It could work like this, but it doesnt mean i agree. I will always have internet and im sure most of you guys do also.. So, it could benefit us. Because it COULD save us money... example: Xbox live, if you have your own internet: Free, i know it sounds insane, but, maybe. Xbox live, comes with internet, $20 a month or if you ONLY use your internet for xbox live (and with apps like IE and Amazon etc alway being on xbox) you could just cancel your internet and just pay microsoft.. sounds like a decent idea, right guys? (i should work for microsoft, thats innovation).

How is Microsoft going to go into the business of providing internet service and charge a fraction of what anyone else does and then give Xbox Live away for free on top of it? You think you should be getting compensated for these ideas?

Verizon Wireless is profiting...???? Computer games manage to give away online play for free...???? PSN seems to be doing alright not charging for online...???? If phone companies are giving you internet for $10 (obviously profiting from it), why couldnt microsoft? Congratulations on never paying full price for your live, but i also buy yearly subscriptions. Did you even think before you posted? Instead of paying Microsoft for NOTHING (xbox live), we would be getting something in return for a little bit of a higher price (or the same price, if you already have an internet connection///but i dont get paying for something whenever its free elsewhere).

I am most definitely not kidding. Prove my statements wrong, and i will admit my stupidity, but until then... you must admit yours. (prove my statements wrong apart from XBL only being $60 buying yearly, but it is most definitely $8.99/$10 for a month).

![]() That equals right about $3.75 a month. The rest of your statement assume Microsoft has infrastructure to offer internet services. They don't. They are not in that market. Period.

Well, I wouldn't believe most of these rumors until Microsoft releases details about it themselves. Seeing as how the GameStop CEO is familiar with the next Xbox(from the news thread), wouldn't he be worried about the next Xbox not playing used games since most of GameStop's business is buying and selling used games? I don't know that I'm just assuming. So these features that it might have just seem too bizarre to be true.

The thing that worries me about the Xbox 720 is how it bonds your new games to your system. In other words, no more used games.

Maybe it is a little far fetched, I must admit my stupidity. (even though, it is 2013, i dont think its that far-fetched. but, since its not being well received by you elite gamers, im sure it must be a bad idea). it's still innovation, and i still should be compensated. they make this happen, they'll be millionaires! no, billionaires!

Yeah, curse these game developers for making you actually pay them to play their games rather than some rental company.

I only did that for a little while, unknowingly. When i caught on to microsoft auto-renewing it, i had them stop. Honestly, i usually try to get them when they're on sale. Recently, i've bought one at toys r us (for full price) only because i had a $25 gift card... but, ultimately, i only paid $25-$30

Not sure what other services you are referring to but many online games etc do have subscription based fees, and your last bit should have read "Only half pay for GOLD xml"
