Metallica vs. Megadeth

Who do you like? Megadeth, Metallica, both or neither? I did a search but could not find anything like this and I was wondering how people on here like these bands. I like both but Metallica is better IMO.

Yea slayer is good too, i just like those 2 a little better, all 3 of those band's newer albums are really good though

It's a no brainer....Megadeth over Metallica....not to take anything away from Metallica....there first 4 albums were amazing...but I like almost all of Megadeths albums except risk, that one does suck.

Well Megadeth is good, i love everything ive heard from them (Peace Sells but whos buying?, Endgame, rust in peace and countdown to extinction) but I like every Metallica song and I like their sound better.

Yes, Metallica is a lot better, but Megadeth doesn't completely suck. Well thats my opinion anyway

I love all their older stuff, In My Darkest Hour has got to be one of the best songs ever. Master of Puppets is probably the best album ever. So I vote too hard to choose.

I haven't heard darkest hour but i would like too and Master of Puppets, is just simply a master piece .

I use to be a really big Metallica fan (Not much anymore) and my friends would always say how much Megadeth sucked and how much Dave Mustaine was a toss. So I listened to a few songs by Megadeth, and I find nothing wrong with them or Dave Mustaine. But I voted Neither, (Don't get me wrong I like them both) but I don't listen to alot of that style of music anymore so yeah. I'm more into Hardcore / Deathcore music now.

I've tried listening to Metallica and I just really didn't like it. =/
Plus I really can't stand these teenagers that go on and on about how they love Metallica when it's obvious that it's just because they are popular.

I chose Metallica, because they are the best! I've seen them twice and was never upset! Last show was 11/14/09 at Madison Square Garden. I was going to see Megadeth at the American Carnage Tour next week, but sadly they postponed it, because of surgery. But, I like how Metallica sounds, they sound more realistic to me. I like Megadeth, but they don't draw out my energy like Metallica.

Mustaine is a bitch anyway. Believes hes a God...

anyone who uses the 'Megadeth never sold out' argument is a straight up moron. you know why Megadeth never sold out? they didn't have the chance. it's easy to 'stick to your guns' when 50* people care about your next release. that's what it boils down to. St. Anger (while terrible) had HUGE pressure. The World Needs a Hero? not so much. it's cut and dry man, you can't sell out when no one cares*.
*hyperbole - obviously someone cares, just not on the same scale

Metallica has sold over 100 million records worldwide (wiki because i'm too lazy to get a 'real' source), while Megadeth has sold 25 million (wiki). other than the fact that Mustaine was in Metallica, how can you even compare the two?! They're metal bands, they shared a member and "shared" a timeline, but one of the bands clearly dominated that timeline and continues to dominate the 'head to head battle'.*
*i'm not saying 'more sales = better band', i'm using these facts to illustrate the difference in careers.

Here's the 'my opinion' chunk of my post. Metallica had 4 fucking amazing albums (Kill 'em All, Puppets, Justice and Lightning, not in that order) and some other mediocre ones. Megadeth had 2 good albums (Peace Sells and Rust) and a lot of mediocre ones. in the end, it's a matter of opinion. i get that, but to say the Megadeth is "better" because they 'stuck to their roots', is just ridiculous. Metallica, all the fucking way. not even close.

p.s. Mustaine can shred, but if you try and tell me he's a good vocalist, you shouldn't get to listen to music anymore.

p.p.s. i don't want to waste more time on this post, but CHANGE isn't always SELLING OUT. start a band, then try and write the same song for 5 years, go ahead, i'll wait. come back and tell me how you feel.
