How to make Level 4 chain during stage?

I am new to this game and I was requested to make a Level 4 or 5 chain during some stages in order to get the rewards.

I've go through all the post and reply(of courese including the game tutorial), and learned how to make matches, combos; but can't see and post about how to make a level 4 or 5 chain during stages. It seems level of chain does not related to cascade.

Is there anybody can advise me how to make it ? Many thanks.

Your chain will increase by making sets of 3 or more gems with every twist. As long as you keep making sets without idle twisting (twists that don't make sets) your chainmeter will fill up and once full go up a level.

If you make a idle twist your chainmeter will drop 1 level.
