Achievement Guide
Overview:
-Estimated Achievement Difficulty: 6/10 -Offline Achievements: 43 (820 -Online Achievements: 7 (180 -Approximate time to achieve 1000/1000 -Minimum playthroughs required: 2 -Missable Achievements : No Missable Achievements. -Glitched Achievements : Made In Fyrestone/New Haven, Weapon-Kill Achievements (ie. "Master Exploder".), Pandora-Dog Millionaire -Achievements disabled by cheats: No Cheats. -Does difficulty affect unlocking achievements: No Difficulty. Achievement Introduction: Borderlands' achievement list is comprised of a mix of both co-op required achievements, and achievements that can be done by yourself. It is highly recommended that you play with a friend who has the game, as it will speed things up, and the better loot isn't bad either. 1st Playthrough: In this playthrough, your main focus is pretty much, every objective achievement, along with beating the main storyline. Play with a friend, make sure to share loot, and get as many achievements as you can while you proceed through the main-game. Note: You can go back to your "Playthrough 1" save, even after completing it, in case you want to complete missions or achievements at an easier pace, due to the lower level enemies. By the time you've finished this playthrough, you should be around level 30. 2nd Playthrough: In this playthrough, leveling up is your main concern. If you haven't already and would like to, complete all remaining achievements, and complete side-objectives and remaining challenges to gain helpful amounts of XP. Proceeding through the main story-line in this playthrough will net you to level 50 fairly easily, so you shouldn't have to go out of your way by grinding to get "Ding! Champion". The loot is better and the enemies are stronger, but you should still not have any trouble going through this alone. Again it is recommended you have another player helping you, it makes things a lot quicker. Glitched Achievements: The "Made In Fyrestone" and "Made In New Haven" achievements have been reported to be a bit dodgy, as to when they would unlock. For some, it would unlock normally, but for others (Including me) it would unlock after completing one mission during the second playthrough, or just not at all. The weapon-kill achievements, requiring you to kill "x" number of enemies with a required elemental weapon, have also said to have been refusing to unlock, despite having killed far more than the required amount of kills needed to unlock this achievement. A patch is reportedly coming to adress this, along with other issues players have been having. But for now the only solution is to create a new character class and redo the achievement requirements, as grueling as that may sound. Hints/Tips: Duplication Process: A good, but unfair, way of sharing loot, while still having a copy of it, is duplicating. To duplicate, have the person recieving the loot (Player #1) make a private game, and then invite the player who is duplicating the loot (Player #2). Have Player #2 drop whatever loot they're duplicating on the ground near Player #1, and then quickly dashboard. The game will not save for Player #2, but will still allow Player #1 to pick the loot up, leaving you with 2 copies of the loot. Power-Leveling: A tactic used to give new players an edge when they are first starting there game, is power-leveling. For power-leveling it is required that you have at least 2 players, one who is just starting the game, the other who has completed, at least Playthrough 1. The higher level character must teleport to the last level of the game in Playthrough 1/2, and rush through and kill all enemies, allowing very large XP boosts to go to the lower-level player, it is possible to get to level 20 during one run, which is very helpful when starting out. Also power leveling your characters so they can use their action skill will save you time but not necesary. (Recommended class for runner is the Hunter, which can use the "Trespass" skill, when maxed out, the player has a 100% chance to ignore an enemies' shields. This is very useful for the enemies in the last level, as they have very powerful shields, and fairly low health.) Conclusion: Borderlands overall is an extremely fun game, and is not very hard to achieve 1000 This is my first guide and any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism would be appreciated. Thanks to: Zak777 for editing of Road Map. KFZ Scrubs for additional information lists and strategies for achievements. NumbArtist for You're On A Boat video. Shadow9392 for the Speedy McSpeederton video. Last edited by ReaLiStiiC; 05-08-2012 at 05:16 AM. |

Can't We Get BEYOND Thunderdome? 25Win an arena match. You can do this on splitscreen, system link, or over Xbox-Live. All you need to do is win an arena match. Easy to boost with friends or by yourself on splitscreen. There is one in Fyrestone early on near one of the bandit camps. Only the host can start the arena once you have entered the lobby of the Arena. Nearby Arenas throughout the game will be marked by an "Arena" sign. The one in Fyrestone is near the starting area, and looks like a staircase that leads downward towards the entrance. Duel-icious 15Win a duel against another player. See "Duelinator" for more information. Group LF Healer 25Rescue a groupmate from death in a co-op game. You can do this on splitscreen, system link, or over Xbox-Live. Whether your teammate is overwhelmed by enemies and is downed, or purposely downs himself. Run over to him and press and hold to begin reviving him. Once he is revived the achievement will pop-up. There's No "I" in "Team" 30Complete 15 missions in co-op. You can do this on splitscreen, system link, or over Xbox-Live. As you progress through the game with a partner this will unlock. And They'll Tell Two Friends 10Play in a co-op game with either an employee of Gearbox or someone who has this achievement. You can do this over Xbox-Live, as long as your partner has the achievement already. This is a viral achievement, so either search for an online game, or play with someone you know has it. Weapon Aficionado 20Reach proficiency level 10 with any weapon type. Weapon proficiency increases as either you, or a partner kills enemies. You do not have to kill the enemy to gain proficiency, as long as it's equipped while a partner kills enemies it will continue to increase. This will come to you as you progress through the game. This can be viewed under the first tab in the character-menu. Duelinator 35Win a duel without taking damage. You can do this on splitscreen, system link, or over Xbox-Live. To start a duel go up to a person in your group and melee them to initiate the duel. For them to accept the duel they will melee you back. To do this just let one person attack the other while the other person does nothing. Then do the same for the other person. You must not recieve "damage", damage on the shield will not negate this achievement. Facemelter 25Kill 25 enemies with corrosive weapons. See "Master Exploder" for more information. 1.21 Gigawatts 25Kill 25 enemis with shock weapons. See "Master Exploder" for more information. Pyro 25Kill 25 enemies with incendiary weapons. See "Master Exploder" for more information. Master Exploder 25Kill 25 enemies with explosive weapons. Weapons and grenade mods in this game have different elemental types. You can tell what they are to the right of the stats on the gun. These can be bought in the store, or looted from enemies and chests. Killing the enemies with the specific type of elemental weapon will count towards this achievement. You can check your progress on each elemental type in the challenges menu. The rocket on your vehicle counts as an explosive weapon, and will count towards this achievement. Adding elemental artifacts to your action skill will also count toward these achievements. -Thanks to KFZ Scrubs There are some who call me...Tim 25Equip a class mod for your character. This is unlocked fairly early in the game and can be done before you leave Fyrestone. One of the missions will require you to do complete the objective and come back to Dr. Zed, to which he will reward you with a class mod. Simply equip it as you would a grenade mod in the inventory. Fully Loaded 10Rescue enough Claptraps to earn 42 inventory slots. You need to rescue claptraps in the various locations to be rewarded with 3 more inventory slots. -Thanks to hewster1 for the Claptrap locations. Sledge's Safehouse: Once you reach the checkpoint and go down a gray-ish staircase, take a right and he will be by a weapon chest. His repair-kit is above the pipe near the checkpoint. Doing this also unlocks the door on the right and will give you loot. Lost Cave: Go until you reach a fork in the road and the Claptrap will be nearby. The repair-kit is up above and must climb over the junk. New Haven: Beside the New Haven bounty board. Crazy Earl's Scrapyard: When you enter the zone, take your left when the map splits. He is beside some of the huts where the bandits are. Kroms Canyon: When you enter the zone and go with the right side. You will eventually run into him when doing the canned meat mission for Crazy Earl. And his kit will be hanging on a rope nearby where you must jump over. Tetanus Warren: The claptrap is found near the end of the level. To reach the repair-kit you must jump onto multiple awnings located near "King Wee-Wee". Trash Coast: On the right side of the map, next to a large container, you'll find this next claptrap. In order to get the repair-kit you must jump up on the large pipeline and continue towards the marker. Old Haven: He does not spawn until you have completed the mission where you save the claptrap from the cage. Once you have that quest, enter the zone and take the first right, follow it down towards the turrets and then take another right. He will be in a house beside a weapon chest. Salt Flats: Go until you arrive at the saw machine. Once you enter it from the right side, take a right and he will be by a house. Crimson Fastness: You end up finding this claptrap underneath a few other broken ones. Truly Outrageous 15Kill an enemy with the Siren's action skill. Once you reach level 5 with your Siren, you will unlock her action skill. Going in/out of phasewalk will send out a shockwave that will damage your enemies. Adding artifacts to this can also contribute to the elemental weapon kills achievements. To use the Siren's action skill use . To exit immediately push in . Careful, He Bites 15Kill 15 enemies with the Hunter's action skill. Once you reach level 5 with your Hunter, you will unlock his action skill. You can send his bloodwing to attack by pressing . After he attacks someone he will return to you, and you must wait the appropriate cooldown time before using him again. Spending points in the "Bloodwing" tree will reduce the cooldown, and increase the damage and speed of Bloodwing. To be on the safe side, weaken your enemies before using the Bloodwing. Reckless Abandon 15Kill 15 enemies with the Beserker's action skill. Once you reach level 5 with your Beserker, you will unlock his action skill. Simply press and go into Beserk. Use the for a upper-cut, and the to jab enemies. Pressing the to kill enemies is faster, because you can throw more punches than when using the . Down in Front! 15Kill 15 enemies with the Soldier's action skill. Once you reach level 5 with your Soldier, you will unlock his action skill, which is a turret. Use to place the turret. Weakening enemies before you deploy it will be helpful.

Secret Achievements:
12 Days of Pandora 30Mastered the technology of Pandora. For this achievement you must complete the challenge "12 Days of Pandora". (12 Assault Rifle Kills. 11 Pistol Kills. 10 Shotgun Kills. 9 SMG Kills. 8 Sniper Rifle Kills. 7 Melee Kills. 6 Critical Hit Kills. 5 Explosive Kills. 4 Shock Kills. 3 Incendiary Kills, 2 Corrosive Kills, 1 Grenade Kill.) Progress can be checked in the challenges menu. Wanted: Sledge 10Killed Sledge. Story related, can not miss. Sledge is a close-quarters combat boss, so try and keep your distance and aim for the head. Because of Sledge's powerful hammer, it is recommended that you do this with a partner, getting one teammate to distract Sledge, as the other continues to attack him. Wanted: Krom 20Killed Krom. Story related, can not miss. Taking Krom on from the walkways is irritating, as you are an easy target, and can be killed quickly from his turret. Make your way up to him and strafe back and forth as you widdle down his health. Wanted: Flynt 30Killed Flynt. Story related, can not miss. Stock up on med-kits prior to the fight, as Flynt is surrounded with plenty of henchmen right off the bat. After wiping them out, proceed up the ramp that rises to your right coming off of the elevator and finish him off. Destroyed the Hive 40Killed the Rakk Hive. Story related, can not miss. Simply shooting the Rakk Hive in any of its many eyes will result in a critical hit, aim for these. Destroyed The Destroyer 50Killed the Vault Boss. Story related, can not miss. When fighting the final boss, aim for the large eye at the top to deal a critical hit with each successive shot. Keep your distance to avoid its tentacle, but be aware that its shockwave can not be dodged, but if you're a hunter, a health-regen class mod will help against this. Best to be done with multiple players on the second playthrough. United We Stand 35Defeated the Rakk Hive, the Vault Boss, Sledge, Krom, or Flynt in a co-op game. Simply play a co-op game over system-link, Xbox-Live, or splitscreen and defeat one of these bosses. Difficulty will increase, but that shouldn't matter with more than one person. You're on a boat! 15I bet you never thought you'd be here. When you enter the area Treachers Landing, open up your map. If you zoom out and look on the right side of the map, you can see a single dock all by itself. Just head over to the dock and jump on the boat holding a chest for the achievement. -Thanks to NumbArtist for the video. Last edited by ReaLiStiiC; 03-22-2012 at 01:29 AM. |

For the roadmap i think that you should change it from 15 hours to like 40+ hours.

Yeah 15 hours is a little... no quite a bit ridiculous. I know some people will say "ZOMG BUT I BEAT IT IN 15 HOURS!" but for mostly everyone it will take around 30+ hours to get all 1000/1000. The game if you are thorough can take about a day, 24 hours, just to get up to level 50. Then you have all the other achievements.

Your not most people though. And a lot of people don't have a party of four and that also makes the game take longer. 15 hours for an average across all players is too low.

EDIT : And I believe with an estimate, the first number is the minimum, and therefore the lowest possible known time. (ie. 15+). And not the average time. Last edited by Zak777; 10-28-2009 at 06:45 AM. |

You should include how you actually start an arena match, where to find it etc. From the achievement description we already know that all you need to do is win an arena match. Good job otherwise.

Well, with all this hooplah going on about time to complete.... i think it'd just be better to specify what you need to do to get a quicker time.
So just be like 40+ hours solo, 15 hours+ co-op. There, that way everybody is happy.

Hey.... just sent you some checklists for completing all the missions in Fyrestone and New haven.
Should help the people who keep on complaining that they did all the missions and still don't have the achievements. Also wrote a little bit more to help with some of the achievements on the list.

Don't know why you are doing a guide when there already is one... and his guide is fine. Just seems like a waste of time to me.

40 hours sounds about right for the solo play. I have only been playing Solo and about 30 hours in I'm at 950, just missing the lvl 50 achievement.
Is the exp that much better in a co-op game? I'm not doubting that you can make lvl 50 in 15 hours, just seems like a huge difference between solo and co-op.

I was making this one since It was not finnished when I started to make this one. And the other had no descriptions or names of like 15 achievements and wasnt complete. So I started one because It had not been touched in a while. Anyway I just hope it can be useful since It has lists for the quests.

Revisions are done, all that's left are videos and maps, then this should be done. If anyone can help by getting some videos it would be greatly appreciated :P.

Everyone is entitled to write their own guide for a game and submit it. Both are good, I really don't see too many differences besides some of the descriptions are worded a bit better here.
Just remember, you can never have enough detail. The more you add the better. Just because it's simple for someone doesn't mean everyone will get it.

For the fully loaded achievement, your directions are very vague, and quite unhelpful tbh, I know that I would never have found them using those. Link to the picture guide and the word guide and then give credit. There is no point you doing it again when it has already been done well. Also, power leveling, when a level 1 joins a game where the host is on playthrough 1, a runthrough of start of eridian promontory to the switch to the vault area will get the lvl 1 to lvl 19/20 every time, not 10.
I used this to boost a friends accounts to get the class action skill ach quickly. With a level 20 character, getting 15 kills with the turret, beserk, or one with the phasewalk is riduculously easy, and mostly quicker. Apart from that, good guide. |

Sorry the level 10 thing was a mistake I ment 20 lol. Anyway I just said that since in the begining of the game the enemies are low enough and die fast enough from the action skill you dont need to level your character up. Plus the time it took to level up you could have just gotten to level 5 and kill 15 enemies.
Edit: I have added videos for the claptrap locations and the " You're On A Boat" achievement. Last edited by ReaLiStiiC; 10-30-2009 at 04:12 AM. |

Just finished touching it all up again. All I can think of to add is a map to give the location of an arena, but it may not be necessary. Other than that, I think the guide is complete
. If there are any problems, PLEASE post them!!!

This guide is way better than the one stickied. Especially the checklist for "Made in New Haven, Fryestone" achievements. Good job.

Is 12 Days of Pandora bugged? It didn't unlock the achievement for me after I completed the challenge - all the other weapon/elemental achievements are unlocked fine.
