How many needed for boosting?

I was under the impression that only two gamers were needed to earn the online achievements. After further research, I noticed others mentioning squads for the ADIDAS achievements. Is four gamers recommended or will just two players suffice?

4 players are required for the Live Run MVP achievement. Others can be done with only 2.
