the update 360 needs

what would you like they to put in an update.

i want them to change gold. make some updates free and early access to the new demos. if you have silver you can play online for free like ps3. give gold members premium themes free or at least a discount and the silver pays for the. same with dlc, arcade games, and avatar clothes. if they make online free i would pay more for arcade games and dlc. i have played ps3 and the only good thing to me was the free online and 360 needs to do that. with the times like they are buying the system was almost too much for most people why make them pay more for online.

Because the people are paying. As long as they have a large, loyal base paying for the service, and are seeing the numbers increase, they have absolutely no reason to tweak things. It would take a lot for Xbox Live pricing to change. If the number of users saw a sudden, completely dramatic decrease, then the company might consider a price reduction. I mean, I wish a lot of things in this world were free, but it just ain't gonna happen.

I've said it before, but the update I would love to see would be a game rental service set up like the movie rentals are. You pay, say, $4 or $5, the game downloads to your system, then self-deletes after X amount of days.

I hate when people say make it free like the playstation, you cant have everything. Either pay a monthly fee for quality service or go get a playstation and play on their console for free if you really don't want to pay a few dollars a month.

If a person's money is that tight, then they shouldn't be buying Gold, or even internet service for that matter.

I wish they would do something like this as well... maybe a partnership with Gamefly in some form.

I never really understood this logic. Yeah, free stuff is always cool, but if you can't afford to pay about $4 a month (essentially that's what it is a for a 12-month membership) then you have bigger problems to deal with than buying an Xbox Live subscription.

I wish there was a way for you to skip songs without going through the dash board. I know it will never happen but playing something like forza and wanting to change songs, I wish I could hold the back button and hit a trigger or RB or LB and change songs. I know this isn't plausible on the current controllers, but on the next xbox add a small media button under the guide button to hold and click to change through songs and such.

Well, kids for example probably have to pay their subsciptions from their allowance. Not really a problem they can deal with....child labor being illegal 'n all .

$4 is a lot if you only get a few bucks a week...or per month.

What I would like to see in the next update is movies on demand support for Europe.

If you believe the PS3 sucks major ass, then the fact that the online service is free shouldn't matter or even come into comparison, free online which sucks or is on a crap console (whichever you meant by PS3 sucks major ass) compared to paying for a quality service on a great console, that comparison makes no sense. It would be like me comparing the price of insurance on a sports car to that on a small city car, saying they should be charging the same.

My opinion for online play on the 360 has for some time been that social matches and play modes should be free and ranked should be Gold exclusive. I have a Gold membership now and love it, but that is my opinion on how online play should work.

Anyway, in an update I want to see either a web browser or BBC iPlayer functionality, they are adding Sky, but BBC iPlayer would be free and let me watch it on my TV, complete awesomeness. Other than that I can't think of anything right now.

Not gonna happen....ever. That would cost MS a whole lot of cash. And we all know how much MS likes money.

Most people have gold for online play only and couldn't care less for the other "brilliant" features like Avatar Marketplace and Games On Demand.

Ms would be idiots to make online free....they already have thousands (millions?) of people paying....so from a business standpoint they would lose money for no reason

but on the other hand it could be a selling point, "hey we have free online now!, buy me" and could net them more console sells and therefore more game and accessory sales.....but I dont think so....I mean it aint broke for them so why try to fix it

and from my understanding gold members do get some of the deals you mentioned

Oh and PS3 online community sucks compared to the 360s, and if you think paying for xbox live is bad go talk to Blizzard and their gazillion dollars from the people that pay 15 a month to play WOW............paying for online makes $$$$$$$

on topic i found the price not bad. If you don't like to pay for online game then get used to non-online play or play other consoles/pc games.

Microsoft will never give out free xbox live. As for the ps3 sucks comment, you know what they say, YOU PAY FOR QUALITY, and thats what we do on XBL.

I wouldn't say never, but as noted already it would take something drastic for that to change. Games for Windows Live was originally the same price as Xbox Live but the PC gamers essentially gave M$ a big "fuck off" with accompanying middle finger, and now that service is free.

The reason 360 gamers won't do what the PC gamers did is because we all say dumb shit like "it's only $5 a month". Yes it is and I am willing to pay $5/month for the service I get, but free would be better. $5 a month IS chump change, but when you're a little kid that has basically no money (I never got allowance or any of that other bullshit) or if you're tight on money where you need to prioritize your spending you might not have that $5.

If I had to change Live I'd format it in the same way this site works with subscribers- everyone has access to everything where subscribers get a little extra. More discounts, early demo access, free gamertag changes, etc but online play and especially party support should be available to everyone

I would never say XBL was quality. I think it's slow and laggy (I have 20 mb/s, so don't say its my connection) Like when you click on games marketplace it takes 30-40 to load and that's unacceptable imo.

PS3 is actually better and quicker than XBL since the NXE was introduced. They just need to speed it up and make the parties actually work.

You have good taste guys lets make a online petition lol

But in my reply to the "Make Gold Free" Saga, basically Gold is worth the £30 a year since you get good service and good servers (Usually)

PS3 is free online indeed BUT the service is not as good as Xbox Live and i do remmeber that there "Home" service took years and years to become LIVE to all PS3 users

deffinitley the best put so far, a little extra for the extra money. And I also like your point about Children struggling for money, me being only 15 and getting no allowance, I cannot afford it, and people say 5$ a month, but it's like 8$ a month if you pay at a time, so really it's a big 60$ purchase, which is much harder then paying 4 or 5$ at a time. I'm hopefully getting a job in december though which will mean I will be back at achievement whoring online
PS: what's this, the 23rd, or 24th, thread complaining about xbox live costs?

Free Live would be really bad idea. As you have to pay for it it means some people can't afford it (Mostly little kids.), but as these people usually can't properly work with other people it is not so bad thing. Think it as a n00b-filter. This is why I oppose free Live, as it's allready too big "lollollolroflxd"-people would increase in size, and that is something that we good players would really hate.

That could be an issue with your gamertag.

I know after NXE, it would take ages to load my games or marketplaces while using my gamertag. After creating a new tag and signing up for a silver account, they loaded almost instantly.

I don't know what causes this, but it can happen. So before blaming the service itself, you could check for that specific problem.

has nothing to do with cost of live i even said i would pay more for other stuff. i just want to play online with a silver account. even if it is old games like COD3 and arcade games. by the way the cost of live is 5/month if you get a year and 8/month if you go monthly. not a big deal i'm just sayin.

this is not a XBL cost thread this is a what do you want the next update to be. if your going to comment either agree or disagree so people stay on topic.

I think Microsoft will introduce a game-renting system in the near future. I mean, Blockbuster is already going out of business because of GameFly and Netflix. If Microsoft introduced a video game rental system right off live, they wouldn't have to worry about stocking issues (Blockbuster) or delay times (GameFly). It would be IMMENSELY popular. I, for one, really hope they introduce it soon, if ever.

If you can't afford a couple of bucks a month for the service, then you must be seriously financially unstable. To which I'd say you should be more concerned about not spending $300-$400 on a console and $60 a pop for games.

That's the whole point of Gold vs. Silver... You're going to get more perks for the service you pay for.

I honestly doubt Microsoft would utilize a rental service. It would render Games On Demand obsolete. They have Games On Demand in hopes that people will buy the games so they can turn a profit. Obviously no one would ever buy a game if they had the much cheaper option of renting.

I would be happy with codecs, and a bigger AND cheaper Games On Demand service. Yeah, I'll pay £20 for Assassins CreBOLLOCKS TO THAT it's no more than £10 in the shops.

Also, as aforementioned, if you can't afford Gold accounts then I think you have other things you should prioritise over online gaming.

I agree that there is probably no chance of M$ starting up an online game rental service. I don't agree that people would always choose to rent over buying. There's always going to be a game that you like so much you'd want to own it instead of having to rent it over and over again.

I'd like to see the Games On Demand service have better pricing. I'd also like to have more control over what notifications I can turn on and off. If I could turn off friend request notifications, without turning off achievement notifications, that would be perfect.
