*Shadow Complex FAQ Please Read Before Posting*
There are lots of threads popping up all asking the same questions so I thought I'd put all the most asked Q's in here to help.
If there are any regularly asked questions I've missed post below and I'll add them in. Also any mistakes again post below. I heard you get Gamerpics, is this true? Yes you get 2 gamerpics through the game. The first you recieve after defeating the first boss where you get the grenades.  The second you get after you have collected every part of the suit.  Thanks to pacokorn77 for the pics I keep seeing upgrades that I cant get because of a Red/Purple/Blue/Green door, what gives? Can I get them later? These upgrades require you to have a certain weapon to access them. Red for missiles, Purple for Foam, Blue for Friction Dampener, Green for Grenades. You can go back to these at any time once you have the corrasponding weapon. I collected all the Grenade/Foam/Missile upgrades and now have unlimited ammo! Will this carry over to a new game? No, you will only have it in your current game. When you start a new one you will have to re-collect them all again to obtain unlimited ammo. Your wrong! I have unlimited ammo on my guns! Every 10 levels you get a permanent upgrade, the last 3 are for the weapons. You will keep these in every new game. Level 10 - 100 Health Boost Level 20 - Full map revealed Level 30 - Infinite Foam Ammo Level 40 - Infinite Grenade Ammo Level 50 - Infinite Missile Ammo Will I keep all my guns and upgrades if I start a new game? No. The only thing you keep when starting a new game is your level. Even if you start a new game without finishing the last one you keep that level. The only other thing that rolls over to a new game is the Golden gun rooms. See below. I collected all the Gold Bars and it now says there a new room? Where is it? Is it permanent? Once you collect all the gold bars in the game a new room is opened up. In it are Gold versions of all the weapons in the game. It is to the left of the room where you get the pistol, its behind the wall to the left and will open automatically. The room is now open in every new game you start  I collected all the Gold Bars but the room doesn't open / isn't available? Are you looking in the right place, Double check the map. If you are in the correct place and it still wont open up then I'm afraid its probably glitched on you. Try reloading the last check point or maybe even re-download the game again if your desperate. Theres no ?s on my map at all!? Are you playing on Insane? Insane difficulty removes all ?s and dots from the map to make it extra hard. There is a way around it though. Change your setting to Casual then exit the game, load up your game and change it back to Insane. The ?s will stay until you die, then repeat Theres a ? above the Grenades room where you fight the first boss, how on earth do I get to it!? This one?  Thanks to markgodley for the image. There is a hidden grenade panel behind the boxes to the left of the room, chuck a grenade or two behind them and the hop over, you should fall down it. Follow the cave until you pick it up. Help! I have 99% but no ? left on the map! There is one room that has two items in it, so if you got one then it no longer shows as a ?. It is a passkey and is in the room where you get the Scuba Mask. Jump over the shelves and its under water. There is also two Save Rooms with items in so it doesn't show up as a ?. One has an armor upgrade, the other has a missile upgrade. Thanks to Frankie Godskin for pointing the missile one out.   I'm going for 100% items, is there anything missible? Yes, there is ONE item you can miss, the Inertial Element (Pulse Rifle). This is one of the final pieces of the suit you can only get it towards the end of the game. Once you see Claire off you are told to get the rest of the suit pieces, this is one of them. Generally its the last to be picked up since its next to the start of the final boss sequence. All other items can be obtained by going back throughout the game.  I heard you can miss a Grenade upgrade, is this true? In a way. You can pick this up pretty close to the start of the game when the helicopter is shooting you at the lake. If you dont and trigger the final boss it will still be there, you just have to get it while fighting the boss. You have to go into the tall building, pull the switch (after going up ladder) and then make your way on top. Jump down on the left side and it should be on a platform (was originally underwater). Thanks to Thorpe for the description I didn't pick up the Inertial Element (Pulse Rifle) and went into the exploding room, now it tells me to go to the lake. Can I still get it? No, unfortunatly theres no way to get it now, you will have to start over to get 100% That Sucks! Yes, yes it does, everyone knows it does, we dont need another thread about it either so please dont post one. Inertial Element? Whats that? The Inertial Element is the Pulse Rifle/Shotgun. Its known as this since Joystiq labeled it as such on their map. I have 100% items but only 98% of the map, how can I get the last 2%? You dont need 100% of the map for the Completionist achievement, you can go fight the final boss and get you achievement. I triggered the last boss and now I cant get to the right side of the map!? Can I still get there? Yes. You have to do it underground through the complex though. Once the final boss is triggered you can no longer go across the lake. It will ALWAYS start the final boss. I cant get to the right side! You're wrong! Try harder. You can, its just complicated. Can I continue playing after I beat the final boss to get my 100%? Yes. When you get to the lake it creates a save point just before you start the fight. Once you complete the game you are returned to the main menu. Just select Continue game and it will load that last save point. The final boss is still there though as you have to defeat him once you have 100% or no achievement for you. I dont know where to go for the final boss!? Exploding room?! To trigger the final boss sequence you need to go to the room shown below. BEFORE doing so make sure you have the Inertial Element (Pulse Rifle) since you cannot get it after you trigger the boss. Also make sure you have everything from the right side since its a pain to get over there once the final boss is triggered.  Once you have escaped the exploding room you need to go to the lake.  How to I get X achievement? How do I start a New Game without it carrying over my level?
I'm not sure why you'd want to but you would have to delete your save file in the memory settings on the dashboard. Theres no way to do it in game. I want to go for the Minimalist achievement on my 2nd run through, what do I do? Like achievements but in game only. At the main menu select achievements and keep scrolling right, they are the last page. I'm doing the Proving Grounds achievement but I'm stuck on the second to last one!! What do I do with these barrels!? You have to destroy the red laser switches with the exploding barrels. Release 3-4 barrels and ride behind them until you get to the red lasers then shoot the back one. This will cause a chain explosion with the other barrels and destroy the switch. This video by x CmOn3y x will show you what to do. I'm doing the Proving Grounds achievement but I'm stuck on the last one!! Help! Is there a quick way to level up? There are a few different ways that people have come up with, all with the same basic premise. Put it on Insane and find an area with alot of enemies and take them out one by one to get your XP multiplier up to MAX. Then save and repeat. Also note that is best to use a machine gun rather than the Inertial Element (Pulse Rifle) since you cant get a multiplier going with the latter. Hmm. I have finished the story now but yet no gamer pictures. I go in the menu and unlock them and it just says something like there are no gamer pictures unlocked?!
 Also, there is one grenade pack on that final boss (if you missed it when there was lake). You have to go in that tall building, pull the switch (after going up ladder) and then make your way on top. Jump down on the left side and it should be on a platform (was originally underwater).

Thank you for the faq and the map with the item locations. In my game some of the items did not show up with a question mark and I almost skipped them entirely.

1. What is this game?
In Shadow Complex, you and your girlfriend stumble upon an underground facility, and the residents take your girlfriend hostage. It is up to you to save her from her captors by traveling through the complex, and using their own weapons against them. Shadow Complex is a side-scrolling action platformer. The main character moves on a 2D plane while most enemies move on a 3D plane. Jason Fleming, the main character, can attack the enemies in both the foreground and background. While the action is very heavy, the main draw of the game is the exploration aspect. As you travel through the game world, you acquire new abilities and weapons, allowing you to access previously impassable obstacles to continue gaining new weapons and abilities. There are over 100 optional collectible items hidden throughout the complex, each having an impact on what your character can do. As you progress through the complex, you will turn from a weak little kitten into a ferocious lion. Of death. Shadow Complex's story is based on the novel Empire by Orson Scott Card. Shadow Complex takes place alongside the events of Empire and it serves as a prequel to the upcoming novel Hidden Empire. However, the story stands on it's own and does not require any familiarity with Orson Scott Card's work. Nolan North, the voice actor for Nathan Drake in Uncharted, voices Jason Fleming. 2. How much does this game cost? Shadow Complex costs $15 or 1200 Microsoft Points and is only available in the Xbox Live Arcade. 3. Will this game be on other systems? Probably not. It is published by Microsoft so it will likely remain exclusive to the Xbox 360. |

4. What items do I need to complete the 13% Minimalist Achievement?
You should acquire Flashlight, Backpack, Three weapons, Grenades, Mask, double jump, Foam, suit, Friction Dampener, and Missiles. I am uncertain, but I believe the game will force you to acquire a single gold bar after you get the Friction Dampener. (At least I haven't been able to NOT get it) If you have access to a certain room you can skip the first pistol in lieu of something else. |

5. How do I start a New Game-?
At the current time, it is unknown how to restart the game with your original level and everything else reset. The only way is to play the game with a different profile on your Xbox 360. 6. How do I do the Insurgent master challenge? We board members all have cooler1339 to thank for finally discovering the secret of this challenge. WORD OF WARNING!: Just because it's found doesn't mean you have to watch it, especially if you believe knowing this secret will ruin your experience of the game for you. So watch at your own risk. You can watch the video tutorial here: Video credit goes to Nogarda 7. The Missable Gun When you get the 4 items on the map, the final gun shall be one of them. To get it, you must lower the bridge, which is done by following the objective until there is a button. Press it, and the bridge shall lower, giving you access to the gun. If you go to the next objective before getting this final gun, it is missable. |

Questions like What is this game/How much is it? I didn't add because this is more a playing the game FAQ than general FAQ but thanks anyway  If there are any mods reading any chance of a sticky? Would save alot of repeated questions over an over. |

There's one more item which doesn't show up. In the above pic, the missile just southeast of the arrow isn't on the map either. As you can see in the pic, the "M" is against a red background, which indicates a save room. Ingame, there's only a star there and no question mark.

Great FAQ. This FAQ helped me get my completionist achievement I had been sooo longing for.
How dare those ? hide behind stars on the map. sneaky sneaky. anyways thanks again. now all i got to do is get to rank 50 to fully complete the game.

Q: I beat the game on normal and got 100% of the items and the golden guns. I need to start a new game to get the 13% item achievements, and was wondering. Does the golden guns mess up my % for the 13% achievement?
A: No it does not. Q: How much % is the required items? And how many items can I get below 13%?

I know that. But the link that you gave me didn't work. So I restarted my computer and tried it again and it still didn't work. Tried it this morning and it did work.
