how the hell are you meant to tether the angel things to the gate? i get killed after being hit one and the AI isnt very good at all, been stuck for a few hours now and really am starting to get annoyed

This should have probably had a spoilers but this is what I did:

Use the proton pack and slam down the angels on top of the wall above the gates. You don't need to use the slime tethers, it's just a pain in the ass.

You dont tether them. you can just Grab and slam them into the gate. each time you hit the gate one green skull will go out. do that 3 times.

Really? On casual it was almost impossible to die. Still a pretty good game and had a pretty good ending.

EDIT: My bad thought you couldnt tether them but i guess you can.

I just kept slamming them into the gate. After about 2 mins the gate opened.

I had the same problem last night which made me give up too. Playing on Professional with only one really dumb AI does not help out either. I tried to tether them, I tried to slam them and I died a lot of times. But after a few more tries at tethering them to the gate I got it to open. I found out it was easier when they flying infront of the gate and not behind it.

The funny thing is "that" was the hardest part of the game on Pro. But overall the game was not that difficult on Pro.

This part was infuriating between less than perfect AI and those angels hitting so damn hard, I feel you. Don't ever stand still, would be my advice, and be quick. I did use slime tethering but if you're unlucky it can still be a bitch.

Easily the most $%&ing frustrating thing in the game. I am literally yelling at it. Every time I wrangle one, I got shot by another. Every time I tether one, they stay stuck flying in the air and don't slam into the gate. Why make such a fun game stop with a huge thud like that?

Oh my god, i just did it, for some reason, i think i just got lucky, they weren't hard on me this time like they were on all of the past tries and yes i am playing it on Professional or Hard.

took me 3 hours to do this on professional. probably 50-60 trys. this is by far one of the most difficult sections of any game i've ever played. The damn angels can kill you in one shot with either of their attacks and it's very hard to wrangle them.

I finally turned the auto aim off which HELPED SO MUCH! the auto aim kept grabbing one that ran in front of me, but when i disabled it i was able to grab the one i wanted and in about 5 minutes did it. and i think ray actually did the last one amazingly.

I play this on professional. OK I show u how do to it. It is different way. Went u come out of tunnel and walk up when start to attack u so run back in to the tunnel and kill couple and then gate open. It is easy.

All you did was run back to the tunnel and kill them? No slamming into the gate?

All I did was shoot the skull on the gate with the tether then shoot the angel. I did it with 4 shots on professional after I figured out I had to slam the gate (Was playing with the sound off).

I spent a good amount of failed attempts trying to find the simplest way to do it. I found that just wrangling one of the three angels that hang out above the gate was the easiest and less stressful way to do it. There are always three just above the gate, allowing you to simply wrangle, slam, and repeat until the gate is crashed.

Just watch out for flaming angels and the tombstone crawlers and you'll be done it no time. The last boss was a cake walk compared to the the pain it was to get to him.

slime tether the gate to the eco-1 and it should open after you do it 3 times.

I'm coming up on this section right now on professional... not looking forward to it.

The first time I did it I used the slime gun to do it, which was a massive pain in the ass. I'll give a crack to the wrangle and smash method.

To add a slightly more full explanation of how I did it:

I ran out and waited for everyone to stop talking and threw a slime tether on the gate (just in case I was able to get lucky with my first shot, I wasn't). I switched to the normal fire, wrangled one of the angels hovering above the gate and slammed it strait down. I'm pretty sure I actually hit ecto1, but it counted anyways. I threw one more down in the exact same manner and the gate came down. So yeah, I only hit it with two, but naturally I'd keep throwing them down until you get lucky. Also try to position yourself far enough away from the gate so the streams "natural" length is above the gate, so when you snap them down they'll at least get close.

Also when the gate came down, all of the minions around died immediately. Whew...
And as happens from time to time in gaming: I am so very glad I'll never do that section of the game on that difficulty again. Onward to the "Are you a God?" achievement!

Not sure if this helped or not but I was sliming them first. Then I would tether the angel that had the lowest energy and it worked.

Its annoying even on casual. Especially the commentary "use the slime tether". I was yelling at my TV going "no SH$%". I think I died and restarted the level like 4 times before I got through

Here's an even easier method.

Stand in front of the gate, so you're looking at the gate you'll need to progress through after this section. Now just keep an eye on the little buggers in the sky and dodge/move when one comes your way, the door should open within 30 seconds.
