Solutions for the Challenges

I would highly recommend attempting the challenges before reading the answers. Its very rewarding to figure them out on your own (and very fun too)

also there are a variety of ways to do the last challenge I cast pariah on the platinum angel and used one of my creatures abilities to do 4 damage to myself (and thus to platinum angel) I don't remember how I finished exactly but I remember royal assassin killing the tapped creature before I cast sangrite surge and attacked dealing exactly enough damage.

The opponent also has a Goblin King in play which gives ALL Goblins +1/+1 and mountainwalk. Since they have a mountain, they can't block Raging Goblin. It's the disadvantage to using cards like Goblin King and Elvish Champion. They give you a very big disadvantage when it comes to your opponent having the same types of creatures since you almost definitely have the Mountain or Forest that make your opponent's creatures unblockable. Not necessarily bad though, but in a situation like that challenge, it loses that person the game.

so i have two questions:

1. Do you need to do the challenges in order even thought they are all unlocked?

2. Is there a certain way you have to beat Liliana on challenge 8? I have beaten her (her health 0 and mine positive) and yet she still gets the win.

1) You can do them in any order.

2) Look at the cards Lilana has in play. It's not enough to just take her health to 0.

This guide is really poorly written. It either gives you unnecessary extra info or leaves out info on several of the Challenges. For instance, on # 3, it says Then cast the three Giant Growth on the right Grizzly Bears. But what it should say is "Cast the three Giant Growth cards on the two Grizzly Bears that are not blocked by the Wall of Wood."

Argh! The solution to 7 is very clever. I wish the game made me think of it!

Unfortunately, I completed it before reading the real solution in a much easier way. I played Terror on the Elvish Champion, then played my 2nd Sprouting Thrinax. I then attacked with all my creatures and I won. The stupid AI didn't even bother to block anything! =(

After reading the real solution half-way, I knew it had something to do with using Flameblast Dragon's ability. So I went back and played Terror on the Elvish Champion, then attacked with all creatures and used Flameblast Dragon's ability on the lone defending creature. Once again, the AI did not bother to block and I won!

The even stranger thing is that I have gone back and tried to do these methods multiple times and they haven't worked again. I've even messed with the AI settings and it doesn't change anything. I guess the game just decided to screw me out of a good puzzle. =(

1. play a plains.
2. attack with Laquatus.
3. Condemn it. (you: 4 life, 2 cards in deck)
4. Kiss of the Amesha yourself (11 life, 0 cards in deck), drawing Wrath of God and Laquatus.
5. Cast Wrath of god. this shuffles Purity into your library (1 card in deck).
6. pass the turn.
7. Liliana draws (9 cards left in her deck). plays swamp and nightmare.
8. your turn, draw purity (0 Cards left)
9. Drop a land, cast Laquatus.
10. activate Laquatus' ability 3 times and pass the turn, liliana can't draw and loses.

Expansion #2 challenge #1 - Garruk
Play Swamp. Equip Blade of the Bloodchief to Vampire Nighthawk. Cast Feast of Blood on Giant Spider. Cast Disfigure on any two of your creatures other than Vampire Nighthawk. Attack with Vampire Nighthawk.

Challenge #2 - Garruk
Use Selective Memory to remove ALL nonland cards from your library. Cast Treasure Hunt to draw your entire library. Play a Forest and cast Primal Frenzy on your Maro. Attack.

Challenge #3 - Nicol Bolas
Play and activate Evolving Wilds to remove the Island from your deck. Play Brainstorm and make sure that Excommunicate and Polymorph stay in your hand. Cast Excommunicate on Phage the Untouchable, then cast Polymorph on Darksteel Colossus.

Challenge #4 - Tezzeret the Seeker
Pass turn, get attacked for 4. Draw Lorthos, the Tidemaker. Pass turn and DO NOT put Lorthos into play. Get attacked for 4 again, then put Lorthos into play at the end of your opponent's turn. On your turn, cast Goliath Sphinx. Tezzeret will Cancel it. Play Island and cast Unsummon on Platinum Angel and attack.

Challenge #5 - Sarkhan Vol
Cast Summoner's Pact and retrieve Seedborn Muse. Use Elvish Piper's ability to put Seedborn Muse onto the battlefield. Cast both Eladamri's Calls to retrieve Goretusk Firebeast and Plated Geopede. Cast Plated Geopede and pass turn.
When Sarkhan Vol casts Blaze, stop the timer. Use Elvish Piper to put Goretusk Firebeast into play, dealing 4 damage to Sarkhan Vol. Cast Harrow, targeting a tapped land, and retrieve two Mountains. Cast Harrow again, targeting another tapped land, and retrieve any two lands. Activate Khalni Heart Expedition to retrieve two more lands. Let Plated Geopede's ability pump it up to at least 9/9 and then use Fling to throw it at Sarkhan Vol.

Good challenges overall...#4 was definitely a head-scratcher.

You need to do the second paragraph on his turn before Blaze resolves. Stop the timer. I'll put that in the post.

This works, but doesn't the AI give you the win by canceling your sphinx? If Tezz saves the cancel for unsummon I don't see any possibility to win.

Am I missing something?

I agree, it's a dumb thing for the AI to do, but it's what it does.
