Tough/Long 1000's (or close to)
This is the Tough 1000 (or close to) section. This specific section will tell you which games take you 40+ hours to get 900 or more points. There are no specific categories here. Some games may be done under 40 hours and others may be well over. It all really depends on skill level and research done.
Thanks to PerpetualHeaven for creating this list. Please do:- • Shout if you think these guidelines aren't fair. • Post how long it took you to attain the amount listed under (2) for any games shown above. Please do not:- • Post anything along the lines of "I agree with <something already on the main list>". • Don't get into an argument over how easy you think the game is. The games on here take over 40+ hours and that means they are a tough 1000. Criteria:- To clarify exactly what qualifies for a "Tough 1000 (or close to)":- (1) It is nearly impossible to obtain 900 or more points. (2) Obtaining the full amount available takes at least 40 hours. (3) Obtaining the full amount available requires an intermediate to advanced level of skill. Any of the criteria can be met. It does not have to meet all 3 points. Games are not listed in order of difficulty. The Tough 1000 (or close to) list:-

So, from what I gather from Method in the Quick 1000s, the original keeper of the thread is unavailable to keep up with it or something?
EDIT: You know, I just thought of something. Could you list the main reason why the game is tough? Like for CoD4 it could be for "skill," and for one of those +100 hour or +1 playthrough games you could say "requires lengthy play time.* Last edited by Itsbrown4606; 02-10-2009 at 03:04 AM. |

Tales of Vesperia requires A LOT of time, 3 playthroughs minimum, at least 150 hours of commitment.
Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts takes around 30 hours for single player if you constantly use the Leaderboards, without you're looking at 40-50, and around 15-20 hours of multiplayer due to the MP parties as well as overall lack of players. Speaking of that, I'd say that games with multiplayer that have a "Lack of Online Community" qualifies as it being tough to get to 1000g. If you can't find X amount of people to play it, you're out of luck.

That's pretty much every game released before 2008, but I get what you are saying and it's true.

I'm just bringing up the point for contention. Whether it is deemed valid or not is not a concern of mine. I could also say all games with extreme button mashing mini-games deserve to be on this list considering button mashing events suck.

While that is a good point, I don't think it really qualifies as being part of the criteria for being a tough 1000. There are still plenty of people who need online achievements for old games. There always will be. Just have to bring commitment and a lot of patience.

Kind of a Big Deal...

I think EndWar should be on that list... It takes a massive amount of skill to get the single player achievements, and even with a boosting partner it will take hundreds of hours to get every multiplayer achievement. Not to mention that some of them require the Theater of War to be in a specific phase.

I agree that a reason as to why each game is hard and/or lengthy would add a nice touch to the list. Nice job though.

I'd say Tiger Woods 09 probably belongs on this list. I've been playing it a nightmarish amount of time over the last month, and I'm only up to 725. These achievements are fairly tough and/or time-consuming:
* Scratch (50k GamerNet points) * Club Champ (I'm stuck around 10.5 / 11.5 / 9.5 / 11.5 at my best) * All your Balls are Belong to Us (win almost all trophy balls, including a number of full-season trophies and eagling every par 5 in the game) * Furry Fairways (have to get the $5mil bunny suit first) * Ace in the Hole * An Albatross Nickel (not a ton of reachable par 5s in the game) * Medalist * Course Management Granted, if you play the entire game from an achievement guide perspective, you could probably get through these in reasonable time, but if you're playing the game as designed, forget it. Rock Band 2 needs to be added. A place can be reserved for Guitar Hero: Metallica since it will probably have some incredibly hard achievements.

I don't see Operation Darkness on here, and it definately takes some time. 35 hours for 550/1000 (27 missions), then god knows how long for the 40+ missions needed for the other 450, and thats if you back up your saves, otherwise its another 35 hours.

Why does it say it is impossible to get 900 points or above in one of the criteria? Nvm it only has to meet one I got you now you mean glitched achievements, I thought you were saying GOW and Gow 2 were impossible.

- Rock Band 2 since you need to play online and cooperate with others to get the achievements like the one where you have to stay in overdrive for 90 seconds. And also for the Vinyl, Gold, and Platinum award achievements. It approximately takes about 6 hours and 30 minutes to finish the "Endless Setlist"(without pausing).More if you take breaks(obviously). You also need to beat all the venues and need to play 25 challenges on expert for the Challenge Savant achievement. If you are not so good on games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, this will take lots of time. If you are, then it will be easier, but will also need to dedicate time to the game.
- I don't know about you guys, but Assasain's Creed took a very long time for me! Especially finding the flags and those 40 special guards(forgot the name). But luckily, that's where the achievement guide comes in perfect use! The actual storyline isn't really that hard, but will take maybe 2 playthroughs? Correct me if I am wrong. - Bioshock should also be in there because it's challenging in some ways, like beating the game on hard or finding all the audioa diarys. It will take 2 possibly 3 playthroughs, mainly for the time consuming ones like Seriously Good At This, Brass Balls, Historian(If you can do in 1 game), Tonic Collector, Little Sister Savior and Dealt with every Little Sister.Maybe even maxing out all your weapons will be tough for some because you have to find all the weapon upgraders. Most will come naturally if you are following an achievement guide. - And last one from me(maybe) is Civilization Revolution because of the strategy you will have to use. Not only you will have to obtain a victory with every civilization, but you need to also beat the hard difficultys like deity. It's very time consuming and is pretty hard. Bioshock is actually quiet easy since you can't die and if you use a guide to find the collectables. Just leave out the 'Brass Balls' achievement as you should do that on a seperate playthrough. You can get the original 1000 in under twenty-five hours without any trouble but use a guide. I haven't done Civ:Revolution but its also on the quick list so just use the guide since someone else has done the hard work of making it. I do agree with Rock Band 2 as it would take a high level of skill and lots of time to achieve the full 1000; most people will have to settle for less though. |

I want to agree with Bass Slapper94 in principle, but I think the issue here is the achievement guide vs. organic approach.
Personally, I like to get achievements without someone telling me exactly how to do it. That takes a lot of time. (But for me, it's a lot more fun; I only use achievement guides to discover secret achievements and untangle something glitchy.) I'm happy with my 500 points/week since I got my 360 in early January, as I've learned and earned the hell of those points. ![]() That said, if your only concern is racking up GS, then strategy/difficulty considerations mostly go out the window. |

Viva Pinata should be added. Master Longetivity (20G) - Play for 50 Hours.
And Tom Clancy's Endwar. The online achievements are so difficult, they take forever, even with boosting partners. And you have to be brilliant at the game for any chance of 100% completion. And Call of Duty 4 shouldn't be up there. If you are pretty good at the game it doesn't take more than 10 hours. 20 tops.

Veteran difficulty is extremely tough. That is why it is up there, not because it takes over 40 hours.

Oblivion, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Last Remnant, Tales of Vesperia and Fallout 3 take quite a long time to 100% but they can be done.
Damn near impossible would go to: Rumble Roses XX Final Fantasy XI DOA Xtreme 2

Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 should be on this list. To get Elite probally takes like 50+ hours. You have to beat every level on Realistic (hardest), also every terrorist hunt on realistic, get 100 kills in multiplayer w/ at least 6 players with all weapon types, etc. Even if you boosted this game is a HARD 1000.
