FAQ: How to Stat Grind and Create Strong Characters

Yes, I know I am doing that too but what BR is enough to beat the Gates of Hell and Cyclops, and Nest of Eagles ? Do you have a save where you can check what wa Rush's STRG for example, or his HP ? For reference ?

So just go try. I beat both on my first try at BR 19 for NoE and BR 31 for GoH (stupid quests like Silver Falcons kept giving me BR's)

Well, I'm like you just before the end of Disc 1 (still have plety of side quests to do though), I'm BR20 and the Obsidian Trail Skul Scavener doesn't give me much. What should I do ?

My HP are 2200 2200 and 2500. Should I still grind untill at least 25 or try to go for Disc 2 on the First Path ?

Just go to disc 2 if you haven't missed any missable quests.

I'm grinding right now, finished every quest up to the bases. BR 57 right now with 5000/4000/4200 hp

Maybe you should have kept the side quests for the end, after grinding, when your BR doesn't level anymore. If you do it at the strat of the game, all the quests, even if you dodge monsters, will make you gain like 20 levels I'm sure. But if you wait, maybe they will make you take only 5 or 10, right ?

Using this method I'm currently BR 11, not sure on exact stats but I think HP is roughly 1600/1400/1500. I've done most of the quests - I was BR 3 at the end of Numor mines. Took a few tries to finish that boss battle - HP was only 695 and had to get lucky to not get Spark V or AoE'd. I've only been in one optional battle thus far, dodged the rest. Gotten all chests so far, too, and most dig points for mats. I have grinded out the levels up to this BR at the obsidian trail, currently gaining ~3-5 stats PER person, with everybody gaining or at the most 1 dying in the battle with the skull scavengers. From what I've done of quests so far (and I've done probably in the 20s somewhere) you don't gain much BR from them.

@ Infinity Master: note that I haven't leaved Ancient Ruins since I started grinding. Meaning, when I leave my units will upgrade their equipment and get more hp. I'm on BR 69 now with 5500/4800/4900 hp and everyone still only has 5% hp gain accessory, this will be upgraded to I think at least 20% when I leave.

@ Neksus: quests like the Silver Falcons are what's going to get you BR's. The Ancient war got me a BR too. If you do all quests on disc 1, you won't stay BR 20 or even stay near there, trust me :P

I don't doubt that the harder ones (ancient war, validus, etc) will bump me up a fair bit, just saying that *most* of the quests are fine

Nkesus, I have been doing exactly the same thing as you, but I fought a little for components for my katanas, and some fights are unavoidable : the worms in the mist, places where you have a chest and 2 birds on it...

I may have done 10 or 15 battles that I shouldn't have done, but I reloaded the Skull Scavenger fight everytime one unit died (yeah... It took a lot of time lol) and in the end, I can promise you it won't make any difference, I am sure of it.

The difference in HP between you, Ardorius, Otaku or myself will be maybe 200 per union when we reach BR100, and like 2 or 3 points in ATK, which won't make a difference. I prefer fighting a little and doing guild tasks than reloading all the time

Right now, I am BR25, going for Validus and my stats are 3100 2900 2900 with everybody's strength being between 50 and 70. Each union does 10K damage so I can say for sure that you can fight a little now and then, it doesn't change anything, you don't have to be hardcore about it

EDIT ; I only died once, against Castanea, who overdrived because 2 of my unions killed Roeas in one turn

Can someone let me know if I'm totally screwed or not for The Fallen and AC:

BR 76

4 Unions (5 5 5 3)

Rush, Torgal, 3 Soldiers (2 Attack + Herb) = 4100 HP
Dave, Jager, 3 Soldiers (2 Attack + Herb) = 4400 HP
Glenys, 4 Soldiers (3 Attack + Herb) = 3800 HP
Irina, 2 Soldiers (Herb + Lotion) = 2600 HP

My 3 units usually average around 20k, Rush's group averages 30k dmg a round. Assuming using most AP.

I am done all quests except the hard disc 2 one's (which is basically all of them after 6 bases)

Can I grind ancient ruins to BR 130 and be able to take out The Fallen and AC assuming I keep to the above party without changing?

What level of ancient ruins should I grind per BR? As at 76, the first level has me at half morale.

Yes just grind in AR to like BR 100-110. The Fallen isn't as hard as everyone says he is.

Yeah The Fallen is pretty easy to be honest, he has a hald decent amount of HP and if you're lacking on damage the 10 turn limit will bite you in the ass, but just beef up in the Ancient Ruins (Try and beat the Holy Servant and get to the next level if you can, although the Holy Servant is tougher than The Fallen so....) and then go kick his ass
and can I just say, screw Blaster, it's the most annoying move in the game for me >_>
and I'm trying to learn Fatal Eclipse but my Torgal just won't use a Psionics move in conjunction with everyone elses moves, he'll sometimes do it with ONE person but no more >_<

How about for AC though? Can my current stats vs BR be enough pre-76+ AR grinding?

I don't know, I fought AC on BR 132 so he was quite strong for me. He becomes stronger as your BR is higher but I think you could beat him with your current stats and grind a bit.

Ancbolders on the 3rd level is your best bet (the hammer guys). Just go back to the world map if there are Greater Demons instead of Ancbolders. Those are a lot harder and take longer to kill, while giving you the same stats. With 3rd level I don't mean the 3rd area you enter, but after the second teleporter (you must beat Holy Servant).

@ Infinity Master: you can see now comparing my stats with Tabris' stats. I am BR 75 with 6000/5200/5300 hp now, still haven't exited to the world map to upgrade equipment.

The AC is hard no matter what BR you are, but you'll need lots of HP to beat him so you'll generally end up being a decently high BR when you should fight him

Average STR is 55-60 among the soldiers. 75-80 among the leaders (except Glenys and Irina)

Why does no one else use a fourth union? What harm is there in it? I just constantly use it to heal others and never engage

You should be able to beef up enough
and I don't use a fourth union because I like having full unions, I'd have two if it wasn't such a stupid thing, three is the best number in my opinion

In my previous save I used a 4th union, worked well enough. I'm just trying a fully combat oriented team now.

My str is between 60-80 for soldiers and most leaders 100+ (except for Emmy and Rush, because his max is 86)

Does Glenys suck? She seems kinda meh right now... definitely for damage at least. I can use Emmy instead of Glenys right now as they are basically even in terms of stats.

For those trying to rush to disc 2, be aware that all seven quests associated with the seven generals of The Conquerer's army, need to be completed before the Fornstrand, otherwise you will not have the option to do them at all.

Glenys gets a weapon art, but overall Emmy is better imo.

If you let Emmy take a weapon from the bases that she asks for she can learn a Weapon Art too
Emmy's one of my favourite characters in the game and one of the best in my opinion too

Oh man, you all are totally bumming me out with all this talk of great stats and not grinding until X area (in order to get said great stats).

Grr...I didn't want to have to pull an Infinite Undiscovery on this game too *sigh* oh well, I guess it will give me a chance to try out something different with Rush and his weapon style.

But first I'm going to press on with my current file and see how hard the AC kicks me butt (that is if I can get past the Fallen {which I doubt highly after reading this thread ;___; })

Oh well I guess its better to know your screwed ahead of time than have that fact hit you in the face later on. Perhaps now that I know I can salvage my character's and improve my odds.

(BTW: This was my first post here =D)

I'd give it a shot and just grind a bit and try to AC. That is, if you have even done all quests on your first playthrough. I hadn't and had to start over.

@ Otaku: my Emmy has had Nightbloom Virtutis for quite a while and learned no weapon art from it. Moreover, I have read nowhere about her being able to learn one and I've read a lot of forums about it...

Same for me, she never got a Weapon Art but I read somewhere on this forum (probably a lie, I didn't realise I said it so definitively before) that she learns whatever the move is called that Hannah and Hinnah dual use
