I was talking about this with my friend and he did come up with a great point. Even tought it will probably have a great story and co-op there is no online. Like I like games with no online before when I had a PS2 but now I can only have fun with a game if it has online. Like think about it is like Gears of War 2 or Halo 3 with no online that would totally suck. So I don't really know what to do now.....Any advice???

I would say a definite must buy! Resident Evil 4 had so much replay value, with playing through again with new costumes, money and weapons, and Mercenaries & other mini-games, and the fact that is one of the best games ever made! Also, there is a versus mode, so I would assume that would be online, along with online co-op. And, Mercenaries and any other mini-game would probably also be online.

Gears of war 2 and Halo 3 are different types of games that are tailor made for online team deathmatches type of multiplayer. Resident Evil is not that type of game, but you can still have a lot of fun with RE5 on your own.
RE5 is , to some extent, online, just not the team deathmatch type of online. You can play with someone else through co-op on xbox live or splitscreen on local through the main story, if i'm correct. And teaming up with someone else against some of the huge bosses looks awesome. Have you seen the GIANT sea monster you fight in the trailers?
There is a Mercenaries mode which is a mini-game that can be played after you finish the main campaign. This should add some more replay value.
Depends what kind of games you like. I'll be getting it for sure cos it looks fun.

I think it's a little too early to tell since nobody's really played it yet except for the small parts in the demo. As a Resident Evil fan, I will definitely be buying it, but it will ultimately depend on your preferences in games. Although saying you can only enjoy a game if it's playable online is a bit close minded. I'm guessing you're referring to multiplayer though since RE5 will have online co-op.
i'm going to buy it deffinately. i loved resident evil 4 and in my xbox magazine it actually said if it weren't for all the new features it would be basically resi 4.
Seeing as I own every Resident Evil game in the main franchise (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and then a few others), and love them, this is a must buy for me. I'm hoping the LE is as cool as the Japanese one is (considering the price difference is $60 for regular, $90 for LE).
Though, on a note, you can't really compare RE at all to Halo. The only similarity is that they both have guns in them. Gears is a closer, but still far off, comparison, because of the 3rd person behind the shoulder view.
THe real difference is Resident Evil is Survival Horror. Now, I know in RE4, ammo was much easier to find than any other RE game (As enemies dropped health and ammo regularly), but, Ammo is much harder to find that something like Gears.
Regardless, each game has it's own charms.

What do you mean it doesn't have "online?" It does. The co-op is online. Or are you referring to some form of online versus mode? If so, why would you say such a thing would detract from a RESIDENT EVIL game? It's not exactly famous for its versus modes. Grading a Resident Evil game lower for lack of multiplayer is like grading peanut butter lower for lack of ketchup.
Clearly a must buy this game is going to change the way we play 3rd person shooters.Plus as far as new games in 09 we are not a lot of new games intill later in the year (or at least games that dont suck).

Considering the game is not out yet how can one classify it as being a must buy or must rent?
I concur, this is a question that should be asked after the game is out. So, you should make the decision on your own at this point. I can tell you all the reasons in why I'm getting the game, but ultimately it's for you to decide, buy it when it comes out? or wait until after it's out to rent first.

For me personally, it's a must-buy. RE 4 changed the way we play shooters. For those Gears-heads out there...have you never heard Cliffy B talk about how influential this game was to him when he was brainstorming for new IP? He has mentioned this game,...as well as a trip he took to Europe that served as the greatest influences for Gears. All that being said...the storyline is, and always has been unlike anything else out there.
This game will disappoint new fans who have no idea what the RE storyline has always been about...but those of us who have played most, or all of the games will almost DEFINITELY be happy. From what I have read,...and more importantly...what I have seen...I will be one happy little boy come 3/13.
And by the way,...if you're down for some co-op over LIVE on that day...send me a msg!!!
in my opinion resident evil has always been the greatest series.
This game is a must buy to add to the collection.
In all honesty i've never been this excited for a game ever.
RE 0, 1 (remake), and 4 was the SOLE reason I bought the failed gamecube back in the day. When I heard RE5 would come to 360 it was a huge factor. Had it been exclusive to PS3 I would have bought a PS3.
The RE series has a great fanbase but I would also recommend this game to just about anyone with a sense of class.

Dude you stole the words right out of my mouth I played RE4 so much and completing it on hard felt like such an achievement... Also I hope they put a mercinaries game mode in, and add some unlockables for 5 staring every level with every character A definet collecters case buy for me.
I think Resident Evil 5 is definitley a must buy. Resident Evil is up there with the big dawgs Street fighter, Mario, Metal Gear Solid and so on. These games are great and unique because they don't come out every 6 months like Electronic Art games. Producers and developers take their time to make sure everything is perfect and up to par with the new generation of gamers while still keeping the old flame alive in old timers like me and many others .
Personally its a must buy because I loved RE4, which I beat as a rental and then bought. But it kind of depends on how long it takes you to beat a game. Like how many hours a day you play, RE5 is supposedly around 15 hours long.

OXM said that there is an unlockable game mode at the end of the game but that Capcom asked them not to spoil it, but they hinted that "if you're thinking mercenaries, you're on the right track".
