PS3 wont play discs?
Im just wondering how one would fix a PS3 that doesn't play discs. It doesn't just not play Blu-Ray and PS3 Game discs, but it wont play CD's or DVD's either. It just doesn't pick them up.

Take it back to where you got it, its the lazer thats packed in hence why it wont read anything. Only other thing you can do is phone sony repair but they are just as bad as M$ repair service apparently.

I had the exact same problem mate. My warranty had ran out so I phoned Sony, and surprisingly, they were terrific!! I was on the phone for no more than 5 minutes and within that time, I had arranged for them to pick up my console and replace to with a refurbished console of the same size at the same time of taking mine away; so in other words, just doing a straight swap. And the best of all, it was completely free which was a nice touch. Find the number and give them a call mate.

Its working in my room now. Pretty strange I know.
I'll let it live in my room for now, but if anything happens like the disc doesnt want to play then i'll be giving sony a call. Its not like there going to start charging me right now right?

@OP: If Sony want to charge for an out of warranty repair then I'm told it's actually fairly straight forward to replace the laser yourself. If/When mine goes I'll be doing it myself and will let you all know how I get on. |
