Quick question about the Underground

I'm running around collecting all the diamonds, unlocking the safe houses and doing the cell phone missions before I start the main story missions. Do I also need to do the undergroumd missions or are they part of the story as I read in the achievement guide that they were "forced missions" for when you run out of malaria pills and this only happens when you are doing the story missions. Thanks in advance

I'm wondering too, 'cause in the strategy guide it says, that there are 4 missions, but I also heard from some guys, that they made 2-3 missions in the north and a few in the south AND got the ach. ?!

Its strange I'm on the story missions now and have done two underground missions so far I'll keep this thread updated with how many I do in the north.
