is there a easy way to level up your units

For firearms yes there is, for everyone else, you just gotta keep killing units.

Firearms/Explosives can apparently target a ground area, and you could hit your own units and actually get EXP for them, so go kill a named general with a high level and apparently you get XP and they respawn automaticly. I never tried this as I haven't got the firearms book, for all I know it might be a crappy rumor.

The only real advise I can give you, is to kill named generals, they give the MOST XP for the buck, but dont come at them if you are a negative troop to them, even if you are a higher level. I learned the hard way by taking a lvl 58 Sword vs a 53 Joan of Arc.... yeah... kinda dumb move but I usually take down cavalery with swordsmen.

what i do is go onto the battlefields that have NO set time and take over every opposing base... it usually helps the higher star difficulty it is as you achieve more experience

if you are like 30 levels above an enemy, you will see that the experiance bar won't move, so try harder difficulties. plus going against enemies that your squad is positive too is ideal. also bows are ideal for big levels, even against negative foes, because when they scatter, keep firing at them and they won't regroup/attack you.

I need to level up 4 more unit to 70% for the last achievement.... but man this is soooo boring ! you always have to buy items that make your unit strong/fast.

I couldnt be bothered with that whole weapon and armour side of things, so if im ever in doubt, i just disband my squad, and i have like the best sword in the game, that just cuts through anything in one hit.

Still, so tedious getting like horse archers up to 70%

lol yh go onto the harder maps like someone else said and just hit enemys that gets you massive amounts of xp i got my archers from lvl 51-54 killing the king of france in the last mission hes was like lvl 70 though and took a few hits but i got the xp lol

also always upgrade the reasearch first as each time you level up you will then get more xp to spend

just a little tip

I agree, it gets so boring grinding the levels so much. I've lost track of which units are the lowest right too, I think I have to start working really hard on it again and just get it done
