Release Date & Limited Edition Revealed

Square Enix has today confirmed an August release date and a Limited Edition pack for its open-world Hong Kong cop drama, Sleeping Dogs, boasting some Georges St-Pierre branded in-game items for protagonist Wei Shen, and an opportunity to deck the undercover cop out in full SWAT gear in some exclusive missions with a bonus assault rifle and SWAT car.

The Georges St-Pierre content comes to Sleeping Dogs following yesterday's announcement that the MMA champ will be consulting on the game. You'll be able to pre-order the Sleeping Dogs Limited Edition to get the following additional content in the pack:

George St. Pierre (GSP)’ content:

GSP’s signature “flying punch”
Exclusive GSP outfit including T-shirts, headband and shorts
The GSP outfit unlocks the “flying punch” and increases grappling and throwing damage

‘Police Protection’ content:

Exclusive “High Speed” Mission
Exclusive HK Police SWAT Outfit
Exclusive assault rifle
Exclusive SWAT Police Vehicle

[Update] Below is the North American retailer-specific pre-order bonus offers. There's the GSP Pack at Best Buy, the Police Protection Pack at GameStop and the Martial Arts Pack from Amazon.com. Take a look.

I wonder, can the items or missions be unlocked with the pre-order bonuses? Not really caring for the clothing, but if the missions add something to the story, then that would be a low blow for some.

I can see myself getting something, but I'll just wait to have and see what local retailers have up their sleeve.
