"When You're A Jet" achievement video guide
Note: I recorded these on the Dreamcast version but I'll be VERY surprised if anything changes for the Xbox version
GENERAL TIPS: 1: You want a character with the highest Graffiti rating. Higher rated characters have harder tags, but earn a lot more points for them. Off the bat, Gum is the only character with a maxed out Graffiti rating. 2: You want to do the larger tags first before the police show up to break your combos. 3: Only pick up the cans you need. They take a while to respawn so don't pick them up if you're already maxed out. 4: Green tags are optional but highly recommended 5: Goji is by far the best character in the game so try to unlock him as quick as you can 6. If you fail to get JET rating and then save, you wont be able to play the mission again until you come back round to it in New Game+. The exception to this is the Jet Graffiti, Jet Technique and Jet Crush missions.  Edit: They can fuck themselves for not adding a restart from menu option

so your advice would be either do these on my first playthrough, or should i just wait until ng+ to even bother?
also a list of unlockable characters and how to get them would be sweet. i dont wanna miss anything on my first runthrough besides jet ranks if i can do those in ng+ |

it's seems the detached achievement needs to be done first anywho, so doing this would be easier a 2nd time around.

Since the game no longer asks you if you wanna save I assume one I see I did NOT earn a Jet I should just dashboard right away right?

I'm assuming Jet ratings are associated with your score? Does how fast you complete a stage have any effect? Or can I just take my time?

For anyone just wanting to know how many points you need to get Jet ranking without checking the videos, here you go (any one with a ~ instead of a - means it's a guess):

Just got 78,000 on Shibuya technique with a jet rating. You can wipe that rediculous 90,000 down now.

Haha I actually got like, 62,000 on Shibuya technique with a jet rating. At least I think I did, I definitely just scraped 60,000 by the end of it, i may have got a slightly higher score if you get any health bonuses at the end of technique

I got a few more Jet rankings with lower scores than the ones listed.
Shibuya GG: 33470 - Jet Edit: Just got 32890 on this level with Nitro rating so its 33,000 for Jet it doesn't round to 5 No 540: 37150 - Jet Behind the Mask: 29240 - Jet

Without even knowing it, I've been using your videos to help me Jet Rank! Off that youtube. So I thank you for the helpfulness of your videos
All I have left to Jet Rank is Kogane's Jet Crush and Bantam's Jet Crush. Kogane's I feel is just tightening up my corners, but Bantam's I'm finding... tricky. And I feel like the secret to finally getting that Jet rank is to grind the handrail in the building that goes up. My problem is, everytime I land that rail, as soon as I get to the first turn around, instead of continuing to grind up the rail, it flips my character around and throws them off. It's really messed up. Is there a trick to this rail that I'm missing? It doesn't make sense |

I had the same problem, so I just used the concrete indentation on the right of the handrail. It takes a bit more time, but it worked for me. Also, instead of going to the third floor, I just jumped the fence from the second floor, then used one of the trucks on the left to get on the top of the buildings... hope this makes sense... |

So to unlock the additional characters like Poison Jam etc, do I just need to Jet rank the story missions from the areas they appear in? Or the Jet Techniques and other modes too?
Edit: Answered my own question, just need the story missions for the characters. Also on Fight or Flight, I got a Jet rank for 62,000 and Behind The Mask, I got Jet rank for 29,000

Just got JET ranking in Shibuya Jet Technique with a score of 61,180, so the approx. target of 75,000 is way off. Another poster also said this earlier.
My scores for Story and Jet Graffiti, if you want to compare: Shibuya story Shibuya GG - 34,180 Love Trap - 42,730 Love Attack - 34,220 Explosion - 80,790 Shibuya Jet Graffiti: 83,790 Kogane story The Monster of Kogane - 32,550 No. 540 - 38,070 Kogane Circus - 32,690 Fight or Flight - 70,770 Kogane Jet Graffiti: 78,890 Benten story Benten Boogie - 49,040 Graffiti High - 37,890 Noise Reduction - 32,450 Benten Burning - 54,000 Behind the Mask - 29,250 Benten Jet Graffiti: 80,700 Bantam Street story: 43,620 Bantam Street Graffiti:68,800 (66,110 gave me Nitro) Grind Square story: 52,780 Grind Square Graffiti: 68,500 (65,840 gave me Nitro) Starting on Jet technique and jet crush now, so I'll post my scores from them when I do them. |
