Hermit Troubles

Having spent a vast majority of my day basking in this games brilliance I am now well and truly stuck and as of yet no walkthroughs are available.

If anybody knows, please may you tell me how to remove the Hermit from the boat after moving it across the island? I am completely and absolutely stuck.

Once you get your boat to the other side of the island and the hermit won't leave take one character and grab the box of crackers. Go back to the parrot and sprinkle some on the ground to get the parrot to ride with you. Then you want to go to the middle of the island with the dog. Be careful not to die or you will have to go back for the parrot.

Get another character to go into the caves underneath the island. Roughly in the middle in a lower section you will find a femur bone. Run it up to the dog and it will teach the parrot to bark. Then take the parrot down to the hermit (again careful not to die, it can be annoying.) and he will finally leave. I don't know if he comes back after a certain amount of time cause I was outta there.

I had all of the components in place, just had no idea that you could teach that damned parrot how to bark!

My problem is that I can not for the life of me find the femur bone...I found an old skeleton by the explosive barrels, but he's not giving up his femur bone!! I've looked everywhere, even in the fire pit!!

The bone is "underneath" the first explosive barrel. Chances are you accidentally picked it up when pushing the barrels around.
