The Resident Evil Universe bounces around...they tell you what happens in the future before they give you the present...then when they do give you the present, they take you on a wild ride somewhere else that happens the day before with someone else, and shows how they all tie in...so 5 could be what happens before Code Veronica...

Gears of War 2 - Only for Horde
Hmm, is it possible to edit your post about the Chris spoiler? I know it's a different game, but I didn't know this.

Chris Redfield doesn't die at the end of Veronica, unless you are talking about the "Gun Survivor" version of Code Veronica in which I've never played, but I doubt Redfield dies in that and if he does; who cares? The Gun Survivor games are horrid side-missions to the real storyline of Resident Evil.
Spoiler:
The end of Code Veronica is the battle with Alexia and she dies from the linear launcher. The base is about to explode and you fight Wesker as it's happening. A bunch of pipes fall on Wesker and he's obviously weak to fire, so he leaves like a schoolgirl. Chris and Claire get into the jet and fly away before the base explodes. Don't forget the little mouse, too. You did know about him, right?

Never played Code Veronica, however good point... Im guessing that maybe they are not taking into account Code Veronica and just going with the 1234 RE's... But good point
Chris didnt die in Veronica, + the fact that we can see him with Jill in the anti BOW squad in Umbrella's chronicles on wii (the special mission that is the only new part of the RE story added in that game).

Him dying in Code Veronica didn't happen. So many canon things say this after. The trailers for RE5 (with mention of several years after Raccoon City, and mentioning after RE4 with the Kennedy Reports). Even Degeneration says Chris is alive, along with hinting of the formation of BSAA.
RE games basically follow a linear progression, unlike, say, the DMC series.
You know, I would REALLY like to know where anybody got the idea that Chris dies in Code Veronica. Unless they died during gameplay and had an intelligence level low enough to believe their own gameplay was canon, there is absolutely no reason to think Chris dies.
they did say this took place before resident evil 4 so in some way it is a prequel
oh BTW chris and leon are invincible they will never die but i would kill ashley
to bad JILL DIED TT.TT

As far as I know, this is taking place after RE4, therefore not a prequel. And for your spoiler, we don't know the circumstances around that yet, could be a hoax by the good guys

Chris Redfield does NOT die in code veronica, its the other guy Steve I believe was his name, he had the golden pistols, so no I dont believe that 5 is a prequel.
By the Code Veronica was AWESOME

THANK YOU
The game is set after the events of RE4 as in the TGS 08 trailer chris refers to the people as acting like the Ganados as detailed in the Kennedy Reports obviously meaning its set after or else there is some form of time travel </sarcasm>

The timeline: RE0, RE1, RE3, RE2, RE: CV, RE4, RE5.
The Residnet Evil series does have some prequels like RE0 and RE3.
And ontopic:
Chris doesn't die, none of the main characters has died in the series.
If you listen carefully to one of the trailers, Chris mentions the bad guys being "just like the ganados (sp?) in the Kennedy report." He's mentioning Leon S. Kennedy and the events of RE4, so this story clearly takes place after Leon's adventure.
