Are there any other ways of earning stars, or is playing world tour the only way?
If so then I guess I'm pretty much screwed

I'm certain that world tour is the only way to get stars, just play over the levels in a lower difficulty to get use to the level itself then go up a difficulty. Also there is a higher difficulty than A class if you didn't know.
