Achievement Guide + Roadmap
Monster Island
ROADMAP Overview -Estimated achievement difficulty: 2/10 w/ video guide (4/10 without) -Estimated time for 200 : 3-5 hours w/ video guide (4-8 hours otherwise) -Minimum playthroughs: 1 -Offline: 18/18 (200 )-Online: 0/18 (0 )-Missable Achievements: 0 (level select) -Unobtainable Achievements: 0 -Does difficulty affect achievements: No difficulty option -Cheats disable achievements: No cheats -Glitched achievements: No -Extra equipment needed: Windows Phone 7 or 8 Introduction Monster Island is a physics-based puzzle game that is very similar to and made by the same folks that created Fragger. It involves killing monsters with objects that are launched by you, including rocks and different types of bombs. It can really only be enjoyed being played without a guide, as puzzle games always are. The fun of the game is struggling through levels and conquering them. That said, if you are looking for a fast 200 gamerscore, using a guide will net you all the achievements in about 4 hours. If you are looking to play the game legit, you will likely spend a slightly more time trying to complete it, but it will be much more rewarding, and your brain will be tested along the way! Currently the game is listed at $2.99 in the marketplace. NOTE: This game originally required that you purchase paid content within the game to earn the full 200 gamerscore, which violated Microsoft's achievement rules. Fortunately, the game has been removed from the marketplace and re-instated with an updated achievement list. The game no longer requires the purchase of paid DLC to complete. Step 1: Complete the game Play through all the levels starting from the beginning. Try as get as many stars as you can. If you want your gamerscore quick, skip to Step 2. Step 2: Obtain 3 stars all levels Use the video guides outlined below to obtain the rest of the stars. Step 3: Mop-up Complete any achievements you may have missed while getting the required amount of stars. It is likely you wont have to mop-up any, but there may be a few. Conclusion All in all, Monster Island is a fun little puzzle game that will give you 200 fairly easy gamerscore if using a guide, and a small amount of challenge and fun if you're not. GUIDE STAR ACHIEVEMENTS (5 for 70 )The following 5 achievements are obtained just by achieving 3 stars on all the levels. Like a boss - 10 ![]() Complete a level with 3 stars. See "Break the ice." Yellow Jello - 15 ![]() Complete Yellow Jello with all stars. See "Break the ice." Real Jam - 15 ![]() Complete Purple Jam with all stars. See "Break the ice." Own the city - 15 ![]() Complete Monstrocity with all stars. See "Break the ice." Break the ice - 15 ![]() Complete Frozen Mellow with all stars. These achievements just require you to complete all levels with three stars. You get an achievement for completing a single level with 3 stars, and each of the 4 worlds with 189 stars (63 levels per world x 3 stars per level). The levels are quite easy and can quickly be completed without a guide. World 4 (Frozen Mellow) has some trickier puzzles that using a guide would definitely save time on, but overall the levels are much, much easier than Fragger if you played that. They require much less precision and timing. To get three stars you basically just have to get a certain score. This mostly just boils down to completing the level using the minimum number of objects (stones/bombs). However, because some of the objects have different points awarded for not using them, it is sometimes required that you use specific types of objects. THIS SITE has some good walkthroughs for each level. However, simply typing in the World name and level number into YouTube is just as good. There are numerous walkthrough videos for each level. To me, at least the first two worlds, it is definitely faster to just play without guides. They can actually slow you down as most levels only require mild thought and can be completed in one attempt. KILL ACHIEVEMENTS (6 for 60 )The following 6 achievements are related to killing monsters throughout the game. Take two - 10 ![]() Kill two monsters with one shot. Just kill two monsters with a single shot. They both must explode from the blast of a single grenade. You cannot them off a ledge to their death. This is basically unmissable, as many of the levels require killing two or even three monsters at a time to get 3 stars. An easy spot (and possibly the first) to get this achievement is on Mellow Yellow Level 28. See the video below. Chill down - 10 ![]() Kill an enraged monster. See "Master Chiller." Master Chiller - 10 ![]() Kill 40 enraged monsters. To enrage a monster, you must nail it square in the head with an object. The monster will then get an angry look on its face. You then know it is enraged. You may get this while completing the game, but if you don't, it is no big deal. This can easily be boosted in about 5 minutes by playing Yellow Jello Level 4 over and over. Enrage the first enemy and kill him with the same grenade. Then blow up the stone wall. Then enrage the second enemy and kill him. 2 enraged kills in about 10 seconds. Keep reloading until it unlocks. Monster Killer - 10 ![]() Kill 50 monsters. See "Monster Nightmare." Monster Hunter - 10 ![]() Kill 100 monsters. See "Monster Nightmare." Monster Nightmare - 10 ![]() Kill 300 monsters. These achievements only require you to kill monsters. The kills count across all level plays and re-tries. You will definitely get 300 kills before 3-starring all levels, as there are 252 total levels, many of which have 2 or 3 monsters to kill.

COIN ACHIEVEMENTS (3 for 30
)The following 3 achievements are related to spending coins you earn while playing in the in-game store. Curiosity Killed Monsters - 10 ![]() Earn 750 coins and spend them on a new character in the Monster Island store! See "Big Spender." Keep em' coming - 10 ![]() Earn 1500 coins and spend them on solutions in the Monster Island store! See "Big Spender." Big Spender - 10 ![]() Earn a total of 2500 coins and spend them in the Monster Island store! You earn coins in the game by completing levels, albeit a very small amount per level. You earn 10-20 coins per level and will definitely earn 2500 total coins when 3-starring all levels. It is recommend that you first purchase a new monster to unlock the "Curiosity Killed Monsters" achievement, then buy a pack of 3 solutions to unlock the "Keep em' coming" achievement. Buying these two items first will ensure you unlock the store-related achievements with minimal effort. Right when you begin the game, you are given a free 750 coins. Use it to buy a monster to get the "Curiosity Killed the Monster" achievement out of the way. You can find the Monster Island store at the main menu of the game. MISCELLANEOUS ACHIEVEMENTS (4 for 40 )The following 4 achievements are related to performing some miscellaneous tasks in the game. In your face - 10 ![]() Hit a monster in the head. Just as the description states...nail a monster in the head with a stone or grenade. This cannot be done with a sticky object or bomb that explodes on impact. This will come by playing, if not by accident, since this is how you enrage enemies. Spare - 10 ![]() Complete a level with a last shot. This is straight forward. Can be done on the first level, just waste all you grenades until the last one. Use it to kill the only monster on-screen. No Clue - 10 ![]() See a level solution. At the start of the game, you have access to three solutions already. Within any level, just pause and push "View Solution." It will show you a video of someone 3-starring that level. Time is Gold - 10 ![]() Skip a level. In order to skip a level, just pause the game and select the skip icon to unlock this achievement and instantly move the next level. You start with two skips when you install the game.

GUIDE UPDATES:
6/19/12 - Guide created and completed. 9/13/12 - Changed the descriptions for "Big Spender" and "Time is Gold" based on some infromation that you actually start with a few skips and do not have to purchase them at the beginning. Thanks to phazer for this info. 9/14/12 - Updated the description and video for "Take Two" with what has been suggested as the first place this achievement is (easily) attainable. Thanks to yamayamayaamaa for pointing this out. 12/4/12 - Added more information to the "Big Spender" achievement for clarity.

"You can get this as early as Level 12 in the Yellow Jello World. See below for how to kill both with only one grenade."
Doesn't work. I just did that and no achievement...

Thanks will update the guide. Appartently you actually do need to "explode" two and not just kill two with the physics. This is cake anyway in a later level I am sure. No biggie. If you dont mind, can you post the first level this was possible on? I no longer have this game.

Also, not sure if it was due to the patch but you can get the achievements for skipping levels and viewing the solutions from the start.

You may also be able to just earn the skip achievement by going back to a level you already completed and skipping it. This happens without even technically using a "skip", since you already beat the level, the game just lets you skip it. This brings up another point that if the achievement does not unlock on the above example, the "skip" related achievement could potentially be missable if you complete all levels without skipping one, and the game does not count skipping levels you already completed.

Grr
Trying to get 100% on both the PC version and the Phone version; Decided to start with the PC one because of how apparently the controls suck (Which in retrospect, they bloody do!) and oh god what a grind it's becoming... The PC controls really are as bad as described
and I've only just finished the first Island in what feels like forever...Oh well, I've got time to kill before I go on the long gruelling run for 500,000 blocks in Angry Birds Space ![]() Nice guide dude! |
