Catchup in races

Has anyone else noticed the catchup on online races. The most obvious race is the 8 ball event where the tracks are short.

I find it doesnt seem to matter which car you choose the car behind will always catch you up. Getting into 1st place early on in the event can actually hinder your overall progress as you get chased down and taken out by the rest of the pack. I have found that even with full turbo its not enough to stop you from being closed down.

Just wondered if anyone else had noticed this.

I noticed this myself, using a different car or even fully upgrading a car seems to have little or no change in performance
