So what exactly was up with the dad? And what was the whistling with the wolves?

So basically his dad purposely called those wolves to "challenge" Adrian and Cole, that's what that whistle sound is during "Full Moon" when the wolves are around. Adrian accidentally dies after the Grizzly hunt. Sampson tells your character this in the caves. "I never meant for Adrian to get hurt, just wanted to turn you boys into men.", along those lines. You here the whistle again in the caves and then you see it hanging on a root right before you climb the ladder to the house. Dad has issues, that's why Mbeki said he was dead after the attack in 1982 and I am pretty sure that's why he set the house on fire.
