Cap Limit On Traders
I know you can wait 3 days or whatever
But do you still get caps if you keep selling them stuff even if you go over there limit and it fades out? |

Nope, you're just giving them the stuff for free. Unless you want to be broke but a nice guy, I wouldn't advise it.

Here's most of the biggest traders so you can do a rotation when selling things, also if the trader has not enough caps you can buy some ammos just to even it all :
Megaton : Moira Brown Little Lamplight : Knick Knack in the Souvenir cabin Rivet City : Flak and Shrapnel Underworld : Tulip (and Sunny in the bar if she comes back alive from the Head of State side quest) Paradise Falls : Pronto (but you have to bring him 20 chinese assault rifles to put him in business) All five caravan traders : Doc Hoff, Crazy Wolfgang, Crow and can't remember the two others. Many scavengers you can find. |

Do you seriously need the extra caps. After about half way through the game I just stopped looting, I had more than enough ammo to last and there was nothing I needed to buy from vendors.

Vendors not having enough caps is a problem in both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, more so with Fallout 3 though. The problem is there are way to many enemy and they respawn way to often, if you pick up everything from everyone you kill you will never be able to sell it all, especially later in the game when you start getting the high tech armor and weapons.
One thing most people don’t think of is the brotherhood outcasts. If you go to Ft. Independence you can trade energy weapons and power armor for ammo, it’s not really a fair trade given the value of the ammo compared to the weapons, but it beats leaving it lying there when you kill someone.
