Thieves Guild suspension

I don't know if this is a glitch or not, but I was on the desolate mine quest and I made sure when I used my spells, they only hit goblins. Then after the room was cleared, I was attacked by the orc in the guild. My husband said to put my sword away, because he thought I was an enemy. I put my sword away, and he was still attacking me, so I had to kill him. Then I got expelled from the guild. Now I have to find 20 bear pelts. I just thought it was kind of strange that I only attacked goblins, then the orc in the fighters guild began attacking me.

That is a strange glitch, next time if someone who is friendly towards you starts attacking, just hold down the block button for a few moments and eventually they should yield
