[RUMOR] Mafia III on the way!?

Gameinformer reports that 2K Czech has opened up a job position for designing an Open-World environment. Also, in interviews with MII producers, they haven't ruled out the possibility of Mafia III.

I'm for it 100%. Really enjoyed Mafia 2. Didn't care for the DLC at all!

Yeah, as I recall, during gameplay demos before MII's release, it showed missions that where directly ripped to JA. (Exploding cars in the garage mission) This shows that they only took content from the release and sold it to us for more, later. This is a sleazy tactic so hopefully MIII is a full experience.

• Relax with DLC
• Make it as enjoyable as Mafia

I really liked Mafia II and hope they bring us Mafia III. I just hope it is nothing like those awful DLCs!

I really liked Mafia II, so I'd pick this up in a heartbeat. The only things I can think of that they could improve are the lengthy checkpoints and excessive driving.

Really enjoyed Mafia 2 and I reckon they should pick up where 2 left off so we can finally have an explanation for that crappy ending. The game was set in an open-world but it's really a linear game and that's the main problem with the game is that there's so much open space and nothing to do with it.

How would it be possible to make it as enjoyable as a game that was not even remotely enjoyable? In the first Mafia, the story sucked. The characters sucked. The camera sucked. The world map sucked (the middle island seems to exist solely to force you to drive through it constantly on your way to something on the left or right islands and rarely has something you actually do in it). The driving mechanics sucked. The melee combat mechanics sucked. The shooting mechanics sucked. The real world traffic laws sucked. All the realism being forced onto the player and none for the enemies sucked (examples: enemy's Tommy Guns might as well be full auto sniper rifles, but even tapping the mouse button to fire one round sends your reticle sky high; police get on your ass if you so much as run a red light or go over the speed limit, but don't care about how there are two cars full of enemies speeding down the streets shooting at you). The out of place race mission sucked. The friendly AI sucked. The lack of proper music during driving sucked. And finally, the plethora of bugs sucked. There's not a single nice thing I can say about the first Mafia game. It's a downright terrible game and easily gains a spot as one of the worst games I've ever played.

Mafia II was a huge improvement over the first game in every way. If there's a Mafia III, the last thing they should do is make it more like the awful first game.

Definitely a must buy if they do end up making a third. Mafia II was amazing. It's just a shame I sold it before I could play the DLC.

No it's a blessing the dlc was terrible.

OT: mafia 3 would be a must buy for me. The 2nd one was fantastic.

I hope the third Mafia game will be true in a year or two. Mafia 2 is one of the most underrated XBOX 360 games, much better than GTAIV in my mind.

I would also want to play the first game in HD! Never played it, but heard it is quite good.

Wow man, you seem to have had a terrible experience with the first one. For me, it is one of the best games ever, played through countless times.
Also, some of your points are invalid, as the story was great (though took a lot from other maffia-related stories), the cars phisics were actually better than that time's GTA's, the weapon handling were good (maybe just you had issues with the mouse) and there WERE proper 30's music while driving, definitely.
Also, many point of yours just clearly opinional, as I really liked the realism (speeding, red lights, running out of gas...) It does not mean it sucked. It means you didn't like it.

OT: bring more Mafia, for sure. I would like to go back to the 30's though. Even better would be an overarching storyline a'la The Godfather, with different settings and cars.

And yes, bring back Free Ride Extreme. Those missions and cars were extremely funny.

Same! loved mafia II got it as a cheap game when i didnt have internet for a while and really enjoyed it and i agree much better than GTAIV. Cant wait for 3rd if it does get released
