Female Protagonist?

How would you guys feel if we had to play as a female this time? As there is no actual confirmation on who the lead character is at this time, i find it interesting to think that i may end up playing as a female. Thoughts?

While the character is not officially confirmed, I really doubt it will be a female this go around. Heavy rumours around a middle-aged white male and a younger latino/black male.

If she has a good believable back story and motivation, I wouldn't mind it at all. I would never not buy a game based on the player character though.

i'd love to play as girl. if there was the character customisation like Saint's Row, i would have done in earlier GTA's. i played all 3 Saint's games as a girl. it's much more fun to beat people to death with a baseball bat when your wearing hotpants and a bikini top.

I'm 100% indifferent to this, as long as there's customization and a good story behind the character I'm happy.

Heavy rumors? This is the first I've heard lol. It's kinda obvious it would be a middle aged man or a latino/black guy judging from the trailer.

Good lord, someone had to bring up saints row character creation.. GTA V does not need that. I would just have them give me one character. I love Skyrim but when it comes to creating a character it takes forever sometimes for me.

I wouldn't mind it if they did with a female as the main character. I remember rumors going around that we might play as multiple people, who knows.

As long as I can still pick up skanks and then run them over for my $100 back, I don't care who the protagonist is. I can't really see the main character being female though.

I agree, its not an RPG dont need a character creator. Its also pretty clear like you said about the main character.

I think it would be interesting to see how Rockstar approached a female lead, but i just can't picture a female protagonist who is crazy enough to kill, steal, etc and be likeable. Usually those types of women in movies are slightly off-putting.

errr maybe you didn't read my post properly, i NEVER said GTA V should have that. i only mentioned SR to use the SR customisation as a way to emphasise how much i would like to play as a girl, not suggesting it should be in GTA at all.
i actually agree GTA V doesn't need it, clothes and tattoos will do just fine like the previous games.

Having a female protagonist in a GTA game would be a pretty cool way to spice up game-play. I think they should definitely try to add one in, maybe in some form of a DLC expansion?

I just assumed that the game was going to have 3 different stories where you play as each of the 3 characters that have been shown, either that or 1 of the 3 is the main character and the other two are "co op characters"

The lead characters at the three guys you see in the marketing for the game. I can't remember their names right now but it defintiely 3 men you play as.

I'd prefer a male protagonist, i personally don't think that playing as a women would have the same effect during some of the scenes, for example:

When the character has to get angry and shout at another person, for me the female voice just doesn't quite have the "Umph", that a strong male voice does.

Lets not forget the Girlfriend of Johnny from The lost and Damned DLC,or Catilina from III and Saandreas, Elizabeta from IV. They were far from generic as Elizabeta was a pimp Drug Lord, and everyone feared her,and the GF of Johnny

It wouldn't be worth the development costs and considering the target audience is mostly male it would be a waste of money in most devlopers eyes. Why does it matter either way? Most people don't care and with FPS games its not like you can tell either way.

It matters because i want that choice. simple. i dont play very many FPS. just left 4 dead and borderlands and thank god those series have female choices.

Exactly, which is why i am done talking about it after this post. i would rather play as someone i can relate to. and i can relate to a woman more then a man. happy now?.
