Extended Cut DLC question?

I have just downloaded the Extended cut DLC... I was told by a friend that once you've installed it... to get it running you need can load up the Auto Save - Citadel: The Return... and once you are making your way to the beam it activates

well i just wanted to check is that correct?

You have to have a safe before the illusive mans base then start from there because there it alot of extra scenes. I also recommend having your EMS at 100% makes the ending alot better.

Quick question out of the options at the end to pick from which is the paragon option if there is one? (i have already completed the game before) ive just forgot which is which

There really isn't a paragon/renegade option with the endings. Just choose what you feel is best for your character. Of course, the EC does help explain the options better for making that choice.

Now, if you're looking for the "best" option, most people will say destroy, but I don't get that logic at all (mass genocide, thousands upon thousands (or millions) of times over, to have one person survive (and then maybe only for a few extra minutes without the immediate medical attention they'd require) I wouldn't call "the best ending"), and really the best option would be synthesis (after all, it is presented in game as the ideal option).

I have the save: Auto Save - Citadel: The Return
Just before you try and go up the beam... however theres a problem...
When it loads up all i get is a black screen and some drum music and thats it. nothing comes on the screen. So does anybody know if my auto save which is from about March is compatible with the extended cut DLC? or will it only work from a new game?

The date of the save shouldn't matter. Try going to Load Game, and choose Restart Mission. That's the only suggestion I got, if that doesn't work it might just be broken (which a number of people have experienced with the EC).
