How do I check my Mac Address of my xbox?
Before you post a video without reading, I already tried going to network settings, but the problem is it gives me the option of wired or wireless (i'm using Ethernet cable) and it doesn't recognize that I have the Ethernet cable plugged in. I used two different ones, same result. Keeps saying please insert cable before I can do anything.
How do I find the MAC address now? |

what kind of router do you own? Sometimes you can view the mac addresses of what is connected to it. Mine can tell its an xbox but some routers just give you the number and you have to disconnect devices and refresh to eliminate what is not your xbox.
Its under status on my dlink. I remember my linksys used to show but don't remember where. Or is the xbox not able to connect to it at all and you are wondering how to find the mac address without being connected? IF so I found an old post on another forum Ok, I think I might have a way that you can get it. Go to the Dashboard>My Xbox>System Settings>Network Settings> then Advanced Options, from there select Create an Ad-Hoc Network. Then you should get a pop-up window to enter an SSID, you can put anything it doesn't matter. After that you should get a confirm window and then the window with the all of the test connections. Hit the top option (Configure Network) then over the Additional Setting and down to the Advanced Settings, and it should be on the mid left. http://www.xbox360forum.com/xbox-for...he-MAC-Address it may be outdated though Last edited by sleepydumbdude; 08-28-2012 at 01:03 AM. |

I'm at school right now, so I don't really have any control over the router.

What do you need the mac address for?
if your at "School" and can't connect it's because of strict nat and without access to the routers settings you wont be able to change that. but the mac address should be 255.255.255.0 but you shouldn't need that |

255.255.255.0 is the subnet mask, it's not related to the MAC Address.
If I remember correctly, it should be write on the xbox itself, probably near the place where you plug the wire or under the xbox(well, usually most of items that you plug on the internet have a mac adress write on it), I don't have my xbox now (I'm at work, believe me, school is not that bad :P) but I can confirm it this evening. But it should be a list of characters (12, seperates in 3 groups of 4, or in some cash 6 groups of 2) And like the last person ask, why do you need the MAC ?

Only way I know of, how to check your MAC address is to go: System Setting>>Network Setting>>Wired(Wireless) Network>>Configure Network>>Additional Settings>>(Scroll Down One, to Advanced Settings, Hit ....And it should have the MAC address listed. No need to access router, unless you are trying to add a MAC address to it. Maybe because the Router he is trying to connect to, has MAC Address Filtering enabled, and he is trying to add it to the router (which it seems he does not have access to). MAC Address Filtering will deny access, via the router, to any connection who's MAC Address is not added. Although you can toggle access to any MAC address that has been added.

If its a school that don't allow gaming consoles in dorms then you're pretty much screwed.

The method my friends used in dorms was the use laptop as wireless adapter method. They didn't allow people to use game systems on the network but that got around it.

I got into network settings and click on the wired... but it says make sure there's an ethernet cable connected. I'm about to shove it up my Xbox's ass if it doesn't recognize it |
