if anyone has this problem, the firearms achievement didn't pop until I used the sonic gun on a human

Just a tip (probably has already been suggested) that saved me a bunch of time:

Combine doing Window Shopper (Visit all stores) and Chuck Greene: Cross Dresser?. You're already going to every store, why not change into every outfit. There are a few places where an outfit exists outside of a store but they are easy to get to. The only trouble one is the Mid-Length T-Shirt Jeans which is only available during the Tape It or Die Mission.

1. Introduction

Dead Rising 2 features a timed mission game mechanic and allows you to restart the story at any point throughout the game while retaining your level and several key items.
This affects your playthroughs and achievements in several ways.

This is a quick summary of the things that need to be completed or obtained per playthrough.

• Save 50 survivors ('Hero of Fortune City')
• Spray all Zombrex posters ('Improper Behaviour')
• Katey's Gifts ('Father of the Year')
• All story related key items and several entrances (Underground, Shortcuts, Doors)
• Zombie kill achievements (with the sole exception of 'Zombie Fu')

All other progress towards an achievement or non-story related items like the SUV or Bike keys carry over.
If possible, try and contain every achievement in one playthrough, there have been reports of them not unlocking when they should, requiring to use or do something that you've already done in your last playthrough, which makes it a pain to track down.

Due to the glitchy nature of coop, it might be wise to restrict your coop playthrough to the story and survivor/psycho achievements, while keeping most others for solo playthroughs, most notably the 'use all items' achievements.


2. Multiplayer

Starting off with multiplayer might be a good idea as the money earned can be transferred to a singleplayer savegame. This will make the 6.000.000$ achievement a little less steep.
Do note that this is not required, there are additional methods of earning money in single player.

Following tasks must be completed in ranked matches:

• Win an event
• Win an episode
• Win all 9 events

Since the online community is virtually non-existent, you might want to head on over to the achievement trading thread and find yourself some boosting partners, which can be found here.

3. Playthrough 1 - Story/Coop

This will be the playthrough where you explore the storyline along with a fair share of survivor rescues and psycho killing. Get a friend or head to the co-op partner thread here to find one.

It is possible to complete your notebook for 'Data Miner' but due to your low level it might prove difficult, although co-op will cancel it out. Don't worry about things you've missed, but keep them in mind for your next playthroughs.

Some (parts of) achievements are only achievable during the storyline or events that occur late in the game. Make sure to do them at the appropriate time or you'll find yourself facing an extra playthrough.

• 'Father of the Year'
• 'Head Trauma'
  
• 'S + Laughter = Slaughter'
• 'Having a Gas'
• 'Chuck Greene: Cross Dresser?'
• 'He Has Covered Wars...'
• 'Life Saver'
• 'Justice Served'

4. Playthrough 2 - Survivors/Psychos and item checklists

This playthrough will be dedicated to finishing up all the achievements that you didn't finish in your first playthrough. This will vary individually, but I'll give a list of the things that most people will have left.

• Complete melee/ranged/novelty/explosives checklists
• Filling the notebook for 'Data Miner'
• Visit all shops
• Spend 6 million
• Make all combo cards
• Acquire all combo cards
• All clothing

5. Playthrough 3 - Mopping up

Finish up any achievements you haven't gained yet, save for the 'zombie kills' achievements.

In this playthrough, the last thing you'll do is acquire 2 million to buy the SUV if you haven't done so already. Once acquired, restart the story and go to the next step.

6. Playthrough 4 - Zombie Genocide Master

You'll be spending another 6 hours driving the Silver/Platinum strip up and down to get 72000 zombie kills. Avoid crashing into obstacles and save when you feel you've done a good run on the strip, and don't be afraid to reload when you feel it was quite the opposite of a good run.

What incentive is there for playing as guest Co-op achievement wise??

I have read that it does not track my quest or kill progress, but makes me money and XP.

Does this mean that I am still able to work towards the "SpendX dollars" and level 30/50 achievements, for example,if I join another person's game?

My pro tip is, do it all by yourself NO COOP. Yeah you're right about the story & kill progress. That is only beneficial for the HOST. I know it's more fun to do with a friend. You can gain some of the achievements through Coop-Play but some are glitched too. Many people in here have mentioned the problems. That's why I recommend you to do the rest on your own.

cant remember who iv killed for the 10 Psychopaths cheev, but it didnt pop for me, kind of annoying...im not level 50 yet, so i can quite happily go through it again, but was just wondering if it didnt pop for anyone else...

For the achivements where you gotta eat all foods, Use all weapons/Explosives, Clothes and Etc

for all those sort of ones do they carry over save games or have to do it in one go??

Please, read the achievement guide, that was said millions of times. Yes it carries over playthrough (not the gift one though).

That's it... But maybe not the way I think... I can understand the dedication required to grind away and raise your level, and could in fact enjoy myself, but at present I am finding the Zombies generally too annoying to deal with/avoid when I want to rescue survivors and complete objectives... Consequently I only play the game in short bursts... God knows if I will have the patience to follow all the weapon guides on a 2nd play through.

I think I would enjoy it more if you could stack rifle ammo in the one item slot, and maybe if weapons like the sword didn't become broken so early into their use.

I got a question about TK's Favourite achievement, I just got the game today you see and the achievement description is to win on all 9 TIR events (Ramster Ball, Zomboni, Bounty Hunter, Headache, Stand Up Zomedy, Punds of Flesh, Master Shafter, Ball Buster & Slicecycle) now I noticed that is a new event added to the game called "Zombie Tank", so let's say I get any of the existing 8 events plus Zombie Tank, would that still count for unlocking the achievement?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just found out that Zomboni is Zombie Tank, geez you would that they would stick to one name.

I'm probably late for this but I'll ask anyway. When do I know I rescued 50 peoople successfully? How hight must the number be in the notebook? As far as I know there are a couple of people which don't count. Right now it says "Safe: 59" ... how many should it be?

Also when does this Achievement unlock? Right after I have 50 rescued or at the very end of the game?

I'm probably a lil late for the reply too haha. Anywayz for anyone else who is wondering this:

You will know if you have rescued 50 people successfully when the achievement pops "HERO OF FORTUNE CITY" by escorting the 50th survivor back to the safehouse. You can't say a specific number (notebook) since you can choose to do certain rescues and don't do some.

Am i only one who thinks this game has weird achievo point values.... i mean really.you get the same 20g achievo for killing 500 zombies as you do killing 72,000...it annoyed me extremely.
