Lights out, Meatball bugged?

Hi guys, just to know if someone has the same problem as me.

It's impossible for me to unlock the one on ones achievement, "lights out, Meatball" because i cant get the first thing needed : "do more damage to carver than you take and win the race"

I tried everything, putting him in critical, not beeing touched, wreck him, on easy, on hard.... Nothing.

Any suggestions?
