A Continual Feast HELP

I'm on the next to last mission in the regular game when John goes out to rope three mustangs with his uncle. I can't get one. Not one. I've been trying for hours and every time I rope one, I hold it but it gets away. On the rare occasion it tells me to 'ride the wild horse' i get off my horse and it's half a mile away by the time I do. I'm so frustrated I could scream. Is there any way of skipping this? Anything to help me out? I had no problem doing this on the McFarlane's Ranch or during the game. It's like the controls are completely different. Any advice would be greatly greatly appreciated.

If your used to RS to balance, remember to use the Left Stick. Its cake once you remember that

Make sure you keep holding the left trigger when you get off your horse or you ill lose the wild horse from your lasso.

So, to be clear, you're not having a problem staying on the horse, but catching it in the first place?

Correct. I can lasso the just fine and break them. What seems impossible is even with keeping the trigger depressed, getting from my horse to a chance to break them.

Well, you've kind of confused me again...

You say: ' I can lasso the just fine and break them.'

But then you also say: 'What seems impossible is even with keeping the trigger depressed, getting from my horse to a chance to break them.'

Are you talking about breaking the horse in the first place, or are you talking about getting back onto your own horse after breaking a wild one?

If you get off the horse before Uncle lassos it, it might not count as a broken horse.

But again, I'm still a little confused by what part you're having trouble with... :/
