Help with "Timmy's in Trouble" (Save a burning sim with loyal dog)
I can't for the life of me figure out a method to burn consistently. So far it's either poking in the damn fireplace for hours on end or using the workbench and inventing stuff, hoping in vain something blows up and sets me on fire.
Of course when I finally manage to actually get the sim to burn my dog will do nothing. It's a female genius, loyal, adult dog with no skills as of yet. Am I doing something wrong? P.S.: In front of the fireplace are a few carpets. |

Try improving the handiness skill and upgrading the fireplace, that always seems to set my Sim on fire. Also, having an unlucky trait would help. Or a daredevil, because then you can get them to play with fire which is a bit more risky.

Can I just select the fireplace and then "play with fire" as a daredevil? |

Hands down the easiest way to start a fire is to buy the cheapest stove, cook something on it, and then have your sim cancel the cooking action and walk away. They'll leave the food on the stove or in the oven and it'll start to burn and cause a fire, 100% guaranteed. Some of the better stoves have anti-burning technology, so it has to be the cheap stuff. I used this fire method to get the achievement. Much more efficient than the fireplace method.

Should I maybe use a different breed for my dog? Does the house size matter? The last time I tried this, I just build a little room and removed the door. |

I had the two become BFFs before this. Not sure if that made a difference. Last edited by Askeroth; 04-10-2012 at 12:34 AM. |

But thinking about it, the cheap stove idea is probably better!

I can confirm the stove method works like a charm.

I seemed to get this pretty easily...used the cancel cooking method I read about here, then got my Sim to just stand by the fire, my dog came in and barked a bit and it poped up.
Think I got lucky
