What is your Broadband Speed???
With broadband speeds and that all important ping level having a big effect on our online gaming, thought it would be a good idea to get details together of every ones broadband speed.
Then if x360a members decide they want to change ISP they can see who offer decent speeds etc.. (I know things like distant from exchange etc can effect speed.) head over to speedtest.net and check your speed and then post your results along with your location, your ISP, advertised speed from ISP and price per month. Basingstoke, UK Virgin Media 100mb £55 a month (includes phone, tivo etc)

Funny enough, I work in a data centre.
![]() Funnier than that, I am in Australia, so Internet is bound to be poor. Edit. Home speeds. ![]() If only I had the upload speeds at home that I do at work.

It locked up my work PC...piece of crap.
What's considered good, better, best and such? EDIT...okay, I got it going (and it locked up again) but it said 1.89 download and 0.99 upload. Is that fast or what???

Even though some people slate VM for their connections, I just can't when they're delivering the results I pay for (50/5Mb):
![]() I would have the 100Mb but it's not rolled out in our area just yet - not sure why I would need it, but I've always had the fastest connection available to me since trialling the 512kb many moons ago. |

![]() I hate Sky. We're paying for upto 20MB, and this is the fastest it gets. And it only gets this fast at night. I'll edit this tomorrow with one during the day. Doubt it'll even reach 1MB.

![]() Pretty good for what I pay. I could double both the upload and download speeds for only $10 more a month, which is tempting.

I wish I hadn't moaned about my speed in my previous post. It seems top end compared to the awesome speed I'm getting now...

![]() I've got my xbox on now and still getting good speeds. Supposed to get 20mb down 1.5mb up. I'm happy with my provider. I used to have AT&T with 1.5 down and 0.2mb up, that was horrible. Plus whenever it rained the internet would get really slow and go out alot.

Here's mine, not too expensive, but it gets expensive if you want their top end package. This serves my purposes sufficiently enough.

I have a wireless connection because I live out in the boonies and can't get anything else (other than sat or dial-up but who wants that crap?).
Now, this wireless connection isn't too bad. The biggest problem is how much it fluctuates. For instance... here is the first speed test I took. ![]() And a few minutes later.... ![]() The difference doesn't seem all that bad, really. Except for the latency. But what you aren't seeing, is the speeds I got when testing against the same server just a few minutes before opening this thread. With over 1200ms latency, .43mbps down, and .12mbps up speeds. Which is just ridiculous. I've seen my latency spike up to almost 3000ms in Diablo 3 as well. Which makes playing that game impossible. And yet... I still maintain a positive K/D ratio in every game I play. Like a boss. ![]() EDIT: ![]() See what I mean?

What do you mean by wireless, do you use your cell phone signal to connect to the internet? Surely satellite would be more stable, except when it rains.
