...shouldn't carry the Ridge Racer name

I remember RR from its peak, being nothing like this!

I want better things for a great racing series! Release Type-4 on XBL and give us something good!

Can't be alone on this?

I did not play this game yet but I saw some gameplay videos of it. I like racing games like Burnout, but RR has to keep being RR, so I agree with you. Ridge Racer is not known for crashing other racers (Burnout) or destroying stuff (Split Second). I will try this one anyway as I like the genre, but this game should have stick to its basics.

i agree the ridge racer name is odd for this, but once you are not expecting a ridge racer type game this is actually rather good imo

i think of it as 'split second burnout: unbounded'

Definitely nothing like Ridge Racer. More of a Split / Second feel to it.

I'm just thinking of it as a whole new series, even a spin off, like the NFS series having the Shift/Pro Street/Hot Pursuit/Run/Undercover series'

That's because this game is really Flatout 3. Same dev (Bugbear) as Flatout 1 and 2. And it plays more like Flatout than Ridge Racer.

But I think calling it Flatout 3 would have sold better. Ridge Racer is dead in gamers eyes.
