Shao Jun

I really hope we see Shao Jun make an appearance in this one. It would be a nice change of direction for the series to actually make her the ancestor you control (Not by Desmod, of course), still... I don't see how it would work exactly, but I really wouldn't care.

I know all rumors are leading towards the American Revolution and whatever, but I'd love to go into China's Ming Dynasty!

She's from the animated short film, Assassin's Creed: Embers (The final moments of Ezio's life). If you're a fan of the series, I'd say definitely give it a watch!

Definately do it. Also I've noticed that the series often makes referneces to where the next game will take place. I've noticed two places. In Revelations Yusuf refrences China. However AC2 Lucy talks about subject 16 being obsessed with Africa toward the end. Plus Ubisoft said no games would take place during war time. So American Revolution is out. However maybe prerevolutionary era? China or Africa is more likely.

A bunch of great rumors at Kotaku. This one in particular caught my eye and sounds quite believable:
"In Brotherhood once you solved the Subject 16 puzzles you met a "ghostly image" of Subject 16 in the Animus. He tells Desmond to find Eve, or as it's written in the encyclopedia "Cryptic as ever, Subject 16 alluded to the necessity of finding a woman called Eve." And also in the Encyclopedia, (if it wasn't common knowledge) it is reminded to us that Subject 16 was in fact a descendant of Adam, hence the video we were able to see when solving his puzzles from ACII. (Otherwise known as "The Truth").

Of course Shao Jun isn't Desmond's relative in any way. Desmond and his line have been the conduits, the messengers. The one that will be the connective line between Adam and Eve. She is a descendant of EVE. She must be.
So now, Desmond and his team need to find her most current relative and get her into the Animus, therefore leading to my ultimate theory: AC3 will be a FEMALE protagonist, set in China and we'll get some time with Shao Jun."

Yea Embers was a nice little tie it up story for Ezio.

Yea I think Feudal China would be a fantastic setting. Tenchu but x10 better!

However I don't think no.3 will take place there, I fear we are heading to the present day with Desmond - Hopefully to find more assassin's for their cause (maybe we can flick between characters ?) .

Either way no matter where no.3 goes - I'm gonna play it.

But maybe we could have no trilogies and 1 off's with different ancestors and how there stories linked with the apple and eden or maybe just how there stories intertwines with the templars would be cool.

I enjoyed Embers, but i don't think China will be the setting for AC:III only because i don't see how it would fit in to Desmonds story. I wouldn't mind seeing a number of Desmonds ancestors from across the globe and different time periods.

I still think AC:III will be set in Europe somewhere possibly tying into the location where Desmond eneded up in AC:R?

okay so we all know this 'leaked" image points to colonial america (the flag is one big look at me lol) but it doesnt necessarily have to be during the war. before or after when the tensions are high would be good as well. another thing pointing to it being in america (for both desmond and the unnamed ancestor) is the fact that the coordinates that have been given for the grand temple are in upstate new york. so i could see a bit of going back and forth and desmond needing to get into the aninus to figure out how to get into the temple (even though he knows "what to do" that could just be after he gets IN the temple) i would have loved to see some of the other places that were rumored to be the setting (industrial london, feudal japan, ancient egypt) and we might still because if i remember right ubisoft said that with the animus as a catalyst they can do almost anything they want in terms of setting (and if your worried about plots just think there are A LOT of missing POEs) but for finishing desmonds story i think this will work best to end it. and just a bit of personal speculation if he survives the whole ordeal with the grand temple and the after effects of all his time in the animus i'll almost bet money he'll end up being the new mentor.

EDIT:
i forgot to mention that i believe ubisoft has also stated that this wont be the last assassins creed just the end of desmonds story. and that they would start releasing one per year (but that could also just be until they concluded desmonds story)

well the ps vita assassins creed 3 liberations has a female assassin as the main role, its probably the last ac game with desmond but its not the last assassin's creed
