red number appearing over book icon on bottom left of screen???

I stepped in a trap in the ice cavern and it says you lost health and a red 10 at the bottom left of the screen. But when i start a match i have full HP. The red 10 still appears and i have no idea what it means or how to get rid of it. Any idea? Thanks
