Important Question about The Last Goal achievement

I'm at level 7 now on the Road to the WRC mode and have just had a panic!

Can you retire from some of the events early even if you've got enough points to win the event and have nailed the 3 green objectives?

I've done this for some of the events and still got the golden crown displayed on the event as well as the 3 green objectives. Have I ruined my chances of getting this achievement?

I've done this where its been for example a 5 country event consisiting of 3 stages each. So after I've come first in the first 4 countries I have 100 championship points. The 2nd placed guy can't overtake my points so I've not bothered to race the final rally and just retired it at the start line to save a bit of time. Has anyone else done it this way and still got the achievement?

Decided to restart career in the end.

I noticed that after I won one event but didn't make the 3 objectives the crown didn't appear on the event selection screen. Looks like the crown is not an indication of event win but for completing the 3 objectives.

You can skip events aslong as you have enough to get the crown this is the way i got it.

I got this chevio as long as you win the overall event and acheive all of the objectives you can skip races!! I was worried about this as well i wrote down the races that i skipped just in case i had to do them again! but all was ok - takes a while thru!

So you really have to win each event? I thought it'd be enough if I complete all objectives...

I just played everyone just in case. It is time consuming
