Hi everyone,

I am an amateur photoshopper and 100% self taught (so much I don't know how to do still :( )

Anyways, I love the Liquid Green Metal skin and I really really wish it was BLUE...so I said, efff it...make it yourself. Even though it is obviously not available for me to use, I love the way it looks.

I also made an Liquid ORANGE metal skin for 2 reasons. 1) to post over at the epic forums in the thread about halloween event and 2) because it is my gf's favourite colour.

NEW COLOURS 10/13/2011:

For those that ARE interested, I can make recolours into pretty much any colour you wish. It would look like the above, just the colour of your choice. At this point I am just re-familiarizing myself with photoshop, so much more then that I can't do.

PM me requests. The ones above took about an hour to do. Not sure about two tones...have not tried yet. I would imagine they should be done within a week of the request. Depending on how many requests I get (I can't say I see alot of requests coming in as most people on here can do this sorta stuff) and my work schedule.

comments and constructive criticism are very welcome

Cheers and enjoy :D

EDIT: for those unfamiliar with the liquid metal skins from gears of war, here is the green one in action:

They're really awesome mate. Especially the orange one.

Be awesome if maybe one day you could do a purple and black one :D

Purple coming up :) It will just look like the ones above...just purple lol.

Did you use the hue/saturation filter? or a new layer coloured in set to overlay? I ask because i think it could be better by using different shades of the primary colour (if you did the second option). Also, needs more grunge >:]

I did a couple of layers. Started off with a base layer of the actual liquid green metal skin.

I proceeded to copy this into layer 2, and layer 1 was made 0% visible. Deleted all of the black out of layer 2, then proceeded to desaturate the colour. Used the Variations option and adjusted it to the colour I wish to have.

After I put layer 1 back to 100% visible to bring the black into the picture. Touch up parts where teh green was still visible and voila.

Again, I have a very basic knowledge of photoshop. I also went about a year without it when I got my new comp as my version of it didn't want to work with Win 7. SO now just getting around to relearning.

No grundge though...wouldn't know how to do so LOL. Here is the pic I worked off of, as you can see, identical copies, just recoloured. That is the one the epic has released:

I like to think of them as "factory fresh"...although Orange would have no place in the real world of war LOL

Thanks for the comment...I will try various things as I go along

red will be coming up...keep checking back.

I've got purple to do...and then red :)

LoL! I'm kinda surprised that you didn't do the red sooner, especially since there could be one that matches the color of the logo. ;)

But seriously, they're cool. Maybe Epic will come out with some more (like your Halloween idea), you should include a video to help the imagination (for those who haven't seen the liquid green in action) and even a link to the weapon skins thread for more ideas for you to try! Just an idea. Good luck on your new project(s).

thanks! and thanks! ;) I put a post up in the weapon skins thread linking back over here...but like you said...I should link the weapon skins thread over here.

For some reason...I never even though of doing a red one lol. I've also been thinking about doing an "onyx liquid metal" skin. Although I do realise there is already an onyx skin out there, but its not liquid metal lol lol.

:omg Holy shit I fucking love the liquid orange metal!! :omg

I just thought of something; [if you're looking or taking in ideas, if not that's cool] but what if you remade the thunderstorm skin but made the bolts of lightning different colors each time? One bolt would be green then the next blue then orange etc. like a rainbow?? Just a thought lol

Not quite sure what you're on about... but if it's what I think it is, then this would probably work...

Make a new layer at the top of your layers. Choose the colour you want, & then fill the layer with it. Add a mask to that layer, & with a round, black brush, paint over everything that's not needed (make sure you have the mask selected when you're doing the painting). Once you're happy with it, right click the layer & convert it to a clipping mask. Then adjust the layer setting to somthing that works... Multiply, screen, color dodge... or what ever.

But this is only if you mean what I think you mean... if not, then ignore me lol :D

Wow, these look cool as hell! Can you make a white one?

thanks! I will try to make a white one within the week...keep an eye out :)

Too bad you can't buy these colors! They'd be awesome skins for the game :)

I really wish there was a way to customise your weapons in game :( But thanks for the comments :)

I...umm...I don't know what you're talking about :( I have fairly limited knowledge of photoshop and what I have learned so far is pretty much from online tutorials on how to modify cars lol. I really wish I knew more so I could understand what you mean....I think I may have to do a bit of research lol
