Blood Type
I'm just curious because I see this a lot in Japanese games.
Why tell me their blood type? Is it on their ID cards in Japan or something? Is it traditional, like bowing, exchanging name cards... and blood types? It confounds me. I want to know why. Cheers, Az |

For a while there was a kind of matching by blood type like zodiac signs to tell if you would get along with another person or should date or whatever. I'm not in Japan so I don't really know for sure if that is still popular. It's more or less otaku info in games.
If anyone has contrary info, by all means. This is just my SWAG. |

As shinobi says it's a pop culture thing. As far back as I can remember being into japanese culture it's popped up a lot particularly in anime and games. You always see a lot of female characters (particularly teenage girls) talking about pairing themselves up with guys by blood type most likely off the back of that game. It also seems to be a otaku geek thing to know everything about your favourite pop idol or even fictional character even their blood type! Even the original version of Street Fighter II used to display each characters stats including their blood type when you left the arcade machine alone without inserting coins while showing the demo.
