Anybody else hate their name?

Warning - This is going to be a rant about why i hate my name (Real life, not Gamertag) and how i hate others gamertags (E.G xXkingsnip3rXx - not a real gt btw) So anybody who actually reads through this. Deserves a plate of cookies.

Now, to get the ball rolling, i hate my real name, for no other reason then the only nickname i will/ever have is Gaz or Gary. Dent is such a bad last name, you couldn't really call sombody Dent. It's a sentance killer, Maybe because of the way it ends in nt, but it just ends your sentance the way it sounds hey dent you coming out doesn't roll off your tongue the way hey creech you coming out rolls off. (Not picking him out, just a good example). I orginally started using Gareth Dent because i was tired of hiding behind some alius, i find you do alot less flaming/trolling when you actually use your name. Because its what people asociate with you. If you trolled with the tag XxPr0MlGxX and then got banned, you could just come back/make a new one. But knowing that people may think lol that Gareth Dent kid, makes me think twice before putting my fingers onto a keyboard. You look at big names and having short and sweet names is usally the best way to have a great/memorable gamertag. (E.G's from this site - Minty, Webb, Creech, Yunder, Gackt) Etc. I only have to hear those once and they were implanted into my head Although, i have met some sweet, amazing original gamertags (Waggly Bean, Altruismisdead etc.) and i really love them. You can tell thougth was put into them. (Again not picking anybody out, if you were mentioned. Consider it kudos to having a rocking tag.) You know, i would have thought i'd get used to just being called Gaz/Gary by now. But it still doesn't grow on me. Even my friend (last name stevenson) is called Stevo. Etc. Maybe i shouldn't discuss my every thought with x360a. Might save you guys some trouble xD. But then somtimes im proud to have my name as my tag, and i like to have it. Mainly when i see the idiots who put no thougth into their tag at all, or think the l33t speak and xx's qq's etc are cool things. Their not, and worse is when they have a name like xXx3Xo13EdcA1xXx and your in a team game. "Hey xxx" "Hey xxx3x"... "hey Xxx3xo13" I really cba to spell all that out when i just want some help/assitance or discuss quick tactics over a game. My question is how do you even remember that? I mean some people, met him on halo had a name like HHYHYHMM Ryan (so when you press back to look at the scores, it will only show ryan) but how the hell does he recover that account? i'd get round to a friends and be like.. Shit so how many h's are in it? Hmm..

Well thats enough ranting, i'm gonna have a drink and get to sleep (3am is too late xD)

With my name irl, I don't hate it, I mean, I don't have much of a choice, I didn't name myself, and don't plan to. And actually a good friend of mine also has the last name Dent.

As with the whole gamertag name i like mine cuz it's original and simple. Not really into the whole "xxx" or "l33t" text for usernames (except for my youtube acc.)

I was on a conference call a few weeks back when a Mike Hunt came on. If that was youre name, you'd never let anyone else shorten it, let alone yourself.

Yeah...he prefers to be called Dick. Probably for that reason haha. Imagine (if you've seen the show) Uncle Red from The Red Green Show (a Canadian comedy) just slimmer going by the name Dick Woods.

And as far as my name goes, I don't hate it, but it's just confusing and common, which is why when people called me "The Apocalypse of Wyoming Area" after Columbine (thank you news retards for painting me perfectly as a potential homicidal rapist! asshats) I started using that out of spite and it stuck. Sounds better then Jason, and works well with my last name, which has people greatly confused. It's actually German, but for some reason people think I'm Jewish because of how it's spelled. Weiss instead of Weis.

But if it bothered me so much I'd go and just have it changed legally...to The Destroyernateror!!! Destroyernateror Weiss...has a nice ring to it, don'cha think?

I like your real life name, and I think it's cool you rock it on the net as well. While some people value their anonymity on the internet, it gets used in some of the most annoying, troll-ish ways possible.
Personally, I think I always kind of put myself out there - being mysterious and unknown is overrated. ;]

As far as my RL name goes, it's Edelita. Most people can't pronounce it correctly. ./shrug
It's been shortened as Eda, which gets mixed up with Eva all the time.
My mum calls me Lita.
I still prefer Eksy.

When I was christened, my parents thought it would be a smart idea to name me a different name then what is on my birth cert.

Now everytime I need to fill out offical documents, say a passport, everything gets confused and it's just one big headache...

I think Gareth Dent's a pretty cool name TBH. My name was James until three people in my class had the same name and then I changed it to Jamie lol. I would never change my GT simply because 6 pound is a rip off lol and I kinda like it (even though no one else does :-P).

My first is Micheal and thats fine. Friends call me Mikey but my school friends all call me Nozza.. Someone I hadn't seen in a very long time actually didn't know my first name because everyone knew me as Nozza.

Nozza comes from my surname which is, and btw I'm not overly keen on it, Norsworthy. Its to long, sounds posh and I have effin' spell each time someone asks!!! Also people when letters are sent get it wrong. We've had Norseworthy, Noseworthy, Northworthy and just the other day my dad got Nortsewothy <-- WTF? That doesnt even sound write, let alone spelt!

And I know my GT has OIIO in it but its actually for a reason. My b'day is on the 1st of the 10th so.. Yeah 23 in a few weeks

Somebody in my schools called Hazel Hazel, don't ask me why her parents named there daughter with her own surname. Surnames/Nicknames that end with z, s or n and normally the best because they're easy to finish and don't murder your sentence.

But ever since Counterstrike I used Bezzin (cause i though it was a cool name) as my online name and that has just kind of stick as a real nickname and been further abbreviated into Bez, which I love

Or you could always change your name... i think someone legally changed their name to optimus prime.

Looks at Harvey's sig, oh great, now I look like a Harvey Dent fan boy :-P. Atleast having a short last name you didn't get people shouting it out. I used to get "WHARTOOOOON!!!!" it was quite funny though. In our school we didn't have first names, it was always nicknames and last names we were referred to by. I didn't like my name much when I was a kid because it's a different name and it gave people fuel for picking on me. My full name is Khalil Shalom Webb. Khalil is Arabic, Shalom is Hebrew, and Webb is English, which is most of my heritage. I'm not an Arab or a Jew, I'm just a white boy with hippie parents. I was called Cleopatra most frequently I think. Not too insulting, I know, but when you're a chubby, nerdy kid, you don't want to give anyone any extra ammo.

I like my name a lot now, though. It's unique, kind of throws people off if they've never heard it before. I get a lot of "Wow, that's cool" or at least "Well, that's different." Sometimes I even get "Were you named after Kahlil Gibran?" if the person has hippie leanings. Which I was. He's a Lebanese writer who's most famous for The Prophet. Mine is just the Arabic version of the same name.

The only nickname anyone ever came up with for me was Keebs, which I guess I don't mind much. It's easier to pronounce.
